Now the responsible thing to do is switch off your router and we'll see you next month. :D

In all seriousness though, your usage this weekend was pretty heavy, and above what we'd provisioned. Time to ease up a little - nothing major though. We're running stats all of the time so there's still the ability for your stats to pull back into decent range over the month.

any reason why I would get < half my line speed on nntp? The account is unshaped at the moment right? Will contact support tomorrow if issue persists though.

Because when capacity is constrained, the lowest priority protocols are contended first - nntp being one of the lowest I'm afraid. If you guys don't see absolute full line speed on all protocols all of the time, it's not because we're shaping, it's because the network takes some bandwidth from the low priority protocol pools and applies it first to the high priority protocols dynamically to keep priority services working perfectly at all times.

Not sure how I feel about this, but makes sense in an infrastructure point of view. Will have to see how often this is needed, AKA when Lino pwns the internets :p

Well technically that's shaping ;) But I like this approach. That's how it should be.
