Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

Dear CW

How confused will you and your systems be if I have the phone number on my adsl line changed?

Nice, but when I say locally I mean like a server in my house somewhere. I used to get this right waaaay back when I shared my net connection via proxy. When my wife clicked the same YouTube vid it played instantly. The idea behind this is, if we both use lets say the same vodlocker link that her tab will stream the video from my server instead of vodlocker again.

In the good old days of dial-up... i used smoothwall which had a proxy capability... as its essentially linux, i'm sure you could configure it to do this...

Video which i can't watch right now as i'm in a meeting : www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9qc2K32s-0

Not confused at all. Just let us know about it by mail. Unless of course your line has been transferred to us, in which case we'll have to discuss this further.

I might just be the first Crystal Web customer to receive a third party notification of unauthorised use of media.

Nope. Quite a few have received them already. :D

We have an obligation to send them off to the relevant customers as we receive them.

Ahh thanks, I completely forgot about that one. Just did a test via CCproxy with cache enabled, it does the job so so, so will try smoothwall.

charge the complaining companies $120 as the other ISP do...

not quite happening yet - in New Zealand statute has been passed to make it obligatory but the ECTA doesn't have the same effect here and the position at the moment really is that the companies facilitating the complaints charge their clients and expect ISPs to carry the cost of doing actual work (and recover from customers really) which amounts to a horrendous practice of unjust enrichment.

An invoice will be sent in due and proper course to the firms that are requiring us to act although enforcing the invoice is a slightly more complicated thing

The issue actually is discussed here a little bit: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ettle-case?p=12928243&viewfull=1#post12928243

just to derail things here quick.

I was just browsing a post related to customer service from a different ISP that I once was a client of and just thinking about the amount of SH*T service I got made me rage a little.

I just want to commend your support staff for always being courteous, helpful, friendly and professional. I was on live chat the other day and I wrapped up the chat with the support agent, about 10 minutes later I get an email from the agent saying that he misread the question I asked in chat and wondered if I could answer one or two questions via email for his so he could investigate. You just don't find service like that anymore, that alone was enough for me as a customer to forgive any hiccups either in or out of your control.

Companies in South Africa really do underestimate the impact customer service has in creating a loyal customer base. I applaud you...

Downside is I have gotten used to it, so the day that support stops is the day the bitching begins :p :p

keep it up
