Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

Once again my point is missed.

My son watches 240p on youtube while I battle to game.
How is that acceptable?
I can change to Afrihost and he can stream 420p plus while I game with very low local pings.

If this is in CS:GO, I can confirm something is broken, at times I cannot get into any servers, other times I get sub 10ms ping.

I was getting 400ms pings on local servers on Saturday at times.
You get kicked out of a matchmaking server and get a minimum of a 30 minute ban.

It's great.

This happened to me too, oddly enough on Saturday too, I sent support the usual and I've been logging times I lag out. Seems ok now however.

EDIT: My entire friends list dc'd. I think this is either a widespread problem or aliens.... Not sure yet..

It's not acceptable, and we have reported the issue to Telkom for further investigation, as previously stated. We are working on resolving this as it relates to a number of other customers as well.

Thanks, I appreciate your response.

People in here need to understand that everything is not golden and for that very reason we give feedback.

This does seem to be a country-wide Telkom issue. I have this on 4 different ISP accounts for the last 2 weeks now. Telkom tech told me that the cards they upgraded at the exchanges are causing trouble, and that they are waiting for NEW cards (completely different) to replace and sort the issues out.

Only in South Africa does a company repeatedly pay millions for "new" tech, and then have to replace it within 6 months - go figure :(

Thanks for the info. The issue though is that the exchanges appear to be functioning correctly in our tests, but the core network there is suffering issues. It may be related to the cards, but we have to wait on their feedback before we can do anything.

We could always try to route the traffic through a different link at massive cost to us, but then Telkom come back to us a day later and tell us it's fixed and we have to embark on another expensive "fix" on their behalf, so we have to wait for official feedback from them before we can actually make arrangements or workarounds (if possible).

Loving it - lowest latency I've ever seen in D3 - 187ms

Also woke up this morning with no internet and a 10. IP address after reaching my "cap". Will contact support soon. Why do you keep calling it "Uncapped" Unshape when in fact it is Capped Unshape? There is no difference between this account and any WebAfrica Capped account?

Okay so I've got my Shaped Account details from CW after completing the Unshaped Cap. I've done a few tests on this account, I have a 10mb line.

NNTP: 50kbps max (Understandable, it is shaped during business hours)
Youtube: Can only play 480p without buffering (720p and 1080p is unplayable)
Netflix: Can reach HD in < 5 minutes
HTTP Downloads: 50kbps max (Deal breaker, trying to download GIMP on my ubuntu machine for work through repositories)
HTTP Browsing: 6/10 (No idea how else to rate this)
Gaming: Couldn't try it out yet, FFXIV server is busy with maintenance.
Pandora: Unplayable.

Overall: 4/10 (Just my opinion)
Was happy with my unshaped account but downloads between 12-6 complete the cap too quickly.

Will test everything again after business hours and give an update.

EDIT: Switched to a backup account. Way too unstable/slow to do almost anything work-related.

UPDATE: Seems I was put on the wrong IP range. Will give more feedback once this has been solved.

when you reached your cap did it let you access crystal webs website?

No, some customers were using in excess of 100GBs per day, so a very generous limit of the unshaped experience was added so that we didn't have to monitor everyone's connections at all times. Thereafter you move back to the shaped experience.

I'm looking at your account now and will follow up with you directly.

I did not even know about this new "Cap" until I browsed this thread, if you have enough time to send me emails to fill out surveys then you can at least send an email to let everyone know about this new condition and how to check your limit/bandwidth consumed as the only bandwidth notification emails I am getting are for the old account.
