Our fibre ranges are business products. Probably heavy overkill on the budget for consumers at the moment.

But if you want it, we'll do the feasibility checks for you, and quote you.

Hey CW. Each night from 9:30pm I am unable to stream Netflix. Will pop you guys an email.

When this happens, are you running a pathping or tracert? It helps. We don't log your data (it's simply not legal and we don't want to either), so we need you to send us data when it happens so we can see where if any, packets are dropping on the network. Remember there are dozens of links on a route to such a service - our hops account for maybe half of them, so being able to isolate issues when they happen is the most critical thing.

Thanks I'll take you up on this when I actually can spend more on dsl that I'm currently do :)

Is there still no word of the EC problems?
This CW account is really unusable for me at the moment.

Streaming on anything other than Hulu is pointless, even hulu buffers sometimes.
Speed tests not going above 900 kbps on a 4Mb line.
Gaming latency is terribly erratic.

In general I'm just not happy anymore.
Live Chat just tells me there's a problem in the EC.
For the last month that's all I've heard.
I have spent over R400 on Afrihost data due to this.

I need some kind of resolution.

I tried out an ITNT connection. Torrent was going at 10kB/sec, and RDP was terrrrible. You get what you pay for! Crystal is magic :)

You thought that supposedly new "temp site" were what we were going for?

Think again.

New site is up - still in "temp mode".

A few minor bugs being ironed out at the moment, and mobile responsiveness is not working as it should and there are a few scrolling issues on the odd occasion we're going to resolve. Feedback and bugs please send to [email protected]

Would appreciate some feedback on the new temp site. Graphics are a little lacking - expect plenty updates to the site now.

If you don't see the new site, hit ctrl+F5 and/or clear your cookies and cache. ;)

Does this affect everyone in EC? Does it rule Crystal Web out if I am considering a move?

As I stated previously, this is on the top of my priority list(s). If it's not going to be resolved by month-end 100%, I'm switching EC customers over to a new backbone temporarily, with your permission, of course. :)

I've used my 100GB unshaped for the month. Currently trying to download an NZB and getting 15KBps. Chatted to support and this is expected behaviour. Was told to change my change my download times to between 12pm-6am.

You site is looking good. One small suggestion, possibly change the email addresses to email links so that the guys don't need to copy & paste it if they want to send you email.

Yes, that is how the accounts work. All data is unshaped for up to 400 gigs on some packages and thereafter certain large downloads are shaped during peak load times. If you're expecting shaping to be released during peak times on p2p and nntp then a standard uncapped account is not right for your needs.

Currently when shaped, it only applies to large downloads and released at midnight - if you want gaming, streaming, browsing, VPN (unshaped at all times as standard) and then p2p and nntp unshaped and at this price then I'm afraid it's simply not possible at this point in time. No ISP does that. In fact no ISP offers what we do in any case at these prices. No throttling, no deprioritising of all services, no streaming shaping, browsing and gaming shaping, and all day every day. Downloads? Well, they're shaped after 100s of gigs in most cases (some customers got bonus data this month as a thank you) and then we apply the shaping to large download protocols.

Trying to drive customers to live support over email which is so 1990s.

:D

Hi CW. Can I expect to be thro... shaped only after 400Gigs on my 2Mbps Uncapped account ?

No. Between 100 and 200 gigs is where we'll apply the shaping (never, ever, ever throttling) on 2Mbps accounts. No less than 100 though.

The site looks quite nice.

Thanks ! 2 questions.
1. Between 100Gig and 200Gig is a pretty wide range. Will I be informed before you put the brakes on ?
2. Excuse my ignorance with this one. What is the difference between Individual account shaping and throttling ?
