By the way, to everyone experienciing some streaming issues, I found a solution that fixed my specific problem:

I have a tp-link TD-W8970 with firmware 130828 and upgraded to 140613 and it's fixed it. My account is absolutely flying now! Thanks CW for the Sunday afternoon support! That's next level.

On the TP-link website?

You guys should consider Mikrotik. Not just saying it because I am a fan, but look at their RB1 series. Was released around 2008 and they are running the same firmware as the newest RB. Now that is impressive for a company to support a router for 8 years and still updating it to the newest firmware.

These upgrades are coinciding with significant investment on Telkom's part to the backhaul connections and exchanges, unlike the last time, so we're fairly optimistic about it this time around. :)

I wish I shared your optimism, my exchange only supports 4MB it's not even on ADSL2+. And I'm sure I'm not alone there are plenty exchanges only offering 4MB only - I wish they would fix this and upgrade exchange that are still stuck in the dark ages first before just bumping the minimum speed up.

Ditto. I doubt our town will ever be upgraded. Suppose I must feel grateful that we at least have 4Mbps speeds.

I have the option for 10mbps, but decided to stay on 4mbps. Can't really see the benifit of faster internet if everything already streams at 720p and sometimes 1080p. But then again i am the kind of person that normally watch SD only.

What happens if you're streaming and someone else starts streaming? 10Mbps means less worrying about what others are up to on your connection.

Sadly I can't afford to buy one at this stage. Looking for a gigabit version though. I hoped to get one through CW, but doesn't seem it's going to happen, but hopefully sometime in the future.

It's a little complicated on our end with the Mikrotiks. We need to ensure that 1) we can sell them without tax implications; 2) rectify the tax implications if 1 is not feasible; 3) be able to support them properly, so this requires considerable testing; 4) ensure that they complement our longer term plans; and 5) are priced correctly and the market is suitably skilled enough without our constant hand-holding to utilise.

Some of these pose challenges, but not insurmountable.

Now if they just released a damn wireless modem-router combo board things would be a lot easier. Sadly there are no plans on their part to do so, to the best of our knowledge.

Seeing as how I'm gatvol of every other ISP, anyone playing online?
Need some feedback on latencies here.

Also @Crystal Web :
1. Like the new site but there still isn't detailed info on whats Tier 1 and Tier 2 data from the site. Unless I missed it.
2. Are the following ports classified as P2P : 7500-17899 (TCP),30000-40399 (TCP),3074 (UDP), 1200 (UDP), 1001 (UDP) ,2001(UDP)
3. Having read the thread, seems there are still some billing issues. This going to be resolved soon? Wouldn't want any troubles.

:)

Yeah, I assumed there were difficulties/obstacles.

Tier 1 has the highest priority on the network for all protocols. Tier 2 moves large downloads into a lower priority pool and shapes them, releasing this shaping from midnight. Everything else remains in tier 1 data pool.

How we classify data on the network is proprietary information. Assume that if you're using P2P, we will classify it as P2P.

Absolutely. We migrated some systems the last two weeks which caused some minor hassles but all is resolved on our end on the billing side, and we just this week employed a new person in finance, which will ensure smoother processing. All systems are also being automated on the actual payment side of things via online payment processing.

Email to support sorted out?

Thanks for the quick feedback. Didn't mean to ask about proprietary info. Just worried Destiny and a couple other games with be managed like on other ISP's(cough WA and AH). Do you guys give out test accounts?

As for the tier information, possibly a popup to give clients some info about this from the site. :)

Should be, yes. You can do so from the support portal (still no SSL - fixing that with the full portal release this month), and view and update tickets. We've also started updating the KB articles there for customers.

No problem. I'm not 100% familiar with Destiny myself - perhaps one of our customers can assist a bit here? One of our new hires is a gamer - he'll be responsible for eating pizza and drinking beer here. (i.e. gaming)

Does the game itself rely on P2P protocols for it to work properly? If so, send the developers a strongly worded complaint. We can also prioritise on service rather than port, so it's one we may be able to resolve if it's pure gaming and can't be manipulated to route non-gaming traffic through.
