Think that is down to the person and sound settings. I've had that and still have that with my new headset.

Warzone is not a reliable reference tho. But PUBG days for sure
I have been known to have Vulcan hearing.

I just got a full dynamic mic setup a week ago paired with the SHP9500 and it's just *chef's kiss*

So I upgraded a couple weeks ago. My old A50's were getting tired and I wanted something newer.

Was seriously considering the whole audiophile route but decided against it. Entry level stuff is not always better than the gaming stuff for the price point. Looked at the Dt990 pro's with a dac and I can't justify the price for something I'd mainly use for gaming at the end of the day.

Ended up with steelseries pro with the gamedac. All the reviews of the volume being too low are rubbish. If I push it I can go to 75% volume for maybe a game or two but then it just starts to be really uncomfortable. Quality is obviously way better than the gen2 A50's but they are not as comfortable.

Schiit is not available here hence why I didn't pull the trigger on beginner audiophile stuff and honestly don't know enough about it to want to sink 5-8k into it.

R3800 is what I paid for the steelseries brand new and these will do fine for my needs.

I have a DT 770 PRO 250 which I can drive through my Super DAC, but I use it as a monitor on my SSL2+, and I am waiting to receive my Fidelio X2HR which is basically the best 'gaming' headphones ignoring that it isn't a headset. For a mic, I use a GX6 or my TAK55

I use it for conferencing, and recording said conferences. Pandemic adjustments.

The Fidelio X2HR was an impulse buy after I have seen it being reviewed. I don't game much, but I will take these for a spin.

One day when I have funds again I will conquer CSGO with these headphones. It is made for gaming, but it is audiophile grade.

If I had a Dollar for everytime I heard someone with my SHP9500 and my friends couldn't with their headsets I'd have Bezos money.

As much as I like the SHP9500 my V-Moda mic gave in with time. I don't even stress the cable, but it has become wonky and if I bump the volume control my voice fades or explodes, and my stereo channels go to schit. I was considering an Antlion Modmic for its reputation but ended up getting a USB microphone, Takstar GX6, and I couldn't be happier, just correctly configure the bitrate and channel for mono and you are ready to go. On cardioid, it eliminates most background noise. It also helps in being consistent for voice something which was an inconsistency with the jack swivel of the V-Moda.

I see Elgato has now made a popular USB mic and not at a too-steep price considering it comes with a good software mixer. It is currently bloody expensive like the TC Helicon products. The GO XLR is overly inflated.

The only reason I didn't get something simplistic, but good, like the Samson C01U PRO was due to the lack of a gain knob. I know that the C01U PRO is exceptional at cancelling out background noise. It hardly picks up blue switches.

I don't think I will ever again use a 'headset' mic since I have gone with a USB mic.

I bought myself a Behringer XM8500 mic, UMC22 interface and a scissor arm.

XLR is the way to go for a quality voice. Due to the lack of available audio interfaces in South Africa, I sort of over-invested, but I don't use it for gaming. If I could I would have gone for a Scarlett Solo or 2i2, but it is all sold out. Unfortunately, the M-Audio entry-level interfaces are bad compared to the competition even though it is updated.

If you don't have a mic which requires a lot of power then the Behringer entry-levels are more than sufficient. It also happens to have an adequate DAC if you want to use it for a soundcard. Nothing less than 80ohm works on my SSL2 unless you want to try all day to find the volume hence I have to use DT 770 250's.

A good audio interface for just streaming or gaming is the Audient Evo 4, it is even made for people who don't understand gain control. Steinberg did auto gain first though.

Unfortunately, we don't have any Motu M2/M4's in this country.

I was looking at this stuff a while back but I don't quite have the money for it yet. My dream setup would most likely be the Motu M2 (I saw them on Amazon UK a while back) paired with an Electrovoice RE20 mic and a DBX 286 in between them.

As far as headphones go, I think the DT1990 Pro's would be the best high end ones suited for my needs.

The RE20 is cool, and old-school, but remember that you have to talk into your mic. The RE20 and SM7B are quiet mics. The Motu M2 can power them both, and is very nice and have a awesome built-in DAC, however the preamps are over-hyped. For streaming, voice/voiceovers it is more than optimal. I think the price is going up, it is extremely popular due to what it can do at it's price point. The big positive is the DAC.

For production at that price I would say that the Scarlett 2i2 and Audient iD4 are superior in terms with preamp quality.

I have made a big decision to go with the SSL 2. Just because I wanted the preamps, and though it have a awesome DAC it is simply overpowering headphones rated at less than 80ohm. For gaming it isn't really a good choice unless you have the right headphones. Otherwise I would have gone with a M2, EVO 4 or 2i2. The Presonus entry-levels are good, but not priced right locally.

You cannot go wrong with XLR. It is worthwhile to start out with Behringer. There are many entry-level mics which is as good as the most expensive mics when it comes to gaming. No gamer needs more than a NEAT King Bee in any case.

Bundles are also 'cheap'. Their is a superb Scarlett Solo kit which includes the amp, mic and monitors.

Yeah I would mainly be looking at this stuff for a streaming setup, but obviously a very high end one and not something I would start out with.

Most audio interfaces at the Motu's price point won't have great preamps, which is why I would like to connect the mic to a DBX 286s as it would provide more than enough clean gain and let me do proper audio processing.

To start out with, I was looking at getting the Motu M2 with a cheaper mic like an AT2020 or something, I won't even consider a USB mic.

This guy made a really good comparison video on audio interface headphone amps and the Motu wins by a fair bit:

This guy made a really good comparison video on audio interface headphone amps and the Motu wins by a fair bit:

This is my setup,

Audio Interface: Solid State Logic SSL2+
Monitors: Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 250
Condenser Microphone: Takstar PC-K850 / Takstar TAK55
USB Microphone: Takstar GX6
Mic Stand: Hybrid SMB02 (boom arm) / Hybrid MS09 (table stand)

In addition to that:

DAC: M-Audio Super Dac
Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO 250 (non-Edition) / Philips SHP9500s / and soon Philips Fidelio XHR2

I don't need anything more than that. I don't stream, but I have to do conferencing and business calls most of the day, but I also do B2B podcasting for the promotion of IT services, video and audio which is something I wanted to do a long time ago but the current circumstance reawakened this venture of mine. If it is successful I may consider a gaming series for the consumers.

Those Takstar mics are highly underrated, just like their headphones. It was also incredibly cheap on Takealot and I had to check if it was counterfeit after I received them. It checked out.
