CSGO Sticky thread

^, is smurfing playing with another account? Ja, I've seen that...doesn't really matter to me but it is curious. How do you even get another account? Do you have to buy the game twice? Seems like too much effort for unclear rewards.
Yea they buy the game twice. If you want Prime you also have to have another sim card to pair a new phone number against that copy of csgo (you can't pair the same phone number to multiple accounts)

The only perhaps acceptable reason I can think of for smurfing is to stop your mates getting destroyed by people many ranks above them when your skill level pushes them into matches they're not even remotely equipped to handle.

^, makes sense.

Guess we should thank the exalted ones for blessing us noobs with their presence :p

It is awful getting pitted against smurfs. Made worse if they're toxic and start make comments calling their opponents noobs and such. I usually end up muting them and using the match as a learning experience. Watch and learn.

Most smurfs in my experience are a-holes. They're only slightly less pathetic than hackers. I imagine the type of smurf I've described who is doing it for the benefit of his new player friends is extremely rare.

I have a smurf account in DotA for example and I use it when playing with my friends who are just starting out because if I don't they get crushed by guys with 5000 hours. It isn't fair or fun for them. Just pick a hero that won't have as big an impact on the game so that I don't rape the noobs on the other side but I still get to share in the fun with mates.

I watched someone for a good 15-20 seconds repeatedly try and open a door, I almost died laughing, he had 120 hours so it's not like he just bought the game, I guess it's just that 99% of the most played maps don't have doors.

Maybe he was lagging. I lag horribly quite often. You should see me try to walk through a doorway, let alone open a door.

This is not specific to smurfs but I've found that almost every time someone is being a jerk it's a younger person, you can clearly hear they are probably around 16 and under.

My favourite is when you get a 13 year old and his maatjie where they say they are 20, two minutes later you can hear the squeaky voice cracking yelling at you calling you a hacker.

Do you guys actually get prime matches? I never seem to be able to get prime matches at all.

Nope definitely not lagging, his ping was 40ms, I don't know how to describe it but if anyone saw video of it you know he wanted to go through that door so bad.

I've seen a lot of lag as of late. Ping all fine, but player lags a lot. To a point where shooting the enemy is impossible.

That ping on the scoreboard is pretty inaccurate though. Mine can spike to 1000ms sometimes but that scoreboard ping number hardly moves. I think it is an average over a much longer period of time.

I'm so used to expecting lag now that I use that netgraph command in my config file with it nicely formatted and everything so that I can see what my connection is doing just before I push or something. That way I know whether I should attempt to aim for the head or just spray like a lunatic :D

What's with your lag, can't you fix it?

I always have netgraph up to check on things just in case.

I've had rather garbage Internet but it was a special arrangement that was affordable for me. I was prepared to deal with the lag because gaming is not what I primarily use the Internet for.

All that changes from next month though. Yay for me! :D

Managed to get to Nova3 with that garbage lag in nearly every game so it isn't all bad :D

Hey all,

So I bit the bullet and bought CS:GO today. It is done installing and I played my first match. Getting used to this still as I am used to Source or 1.6 :D

Just a word of advice (Not to scare you off), learn to play Dust 2 before you play comp's. I kick myself every day. I know the map, but I stop plying for weeks on end.

I'm staying far away from the comps for now, casual is fun tho.

The later rounds seem to turn into an Awpfest which is quite annoying where ping uber alles

Wait till you play comps :P They usually get fun after a while, especially if it's a close match.

Okay so for comp matches. Would you guys be pissed off if someone on the opposing team has a ping of like 110-150ms? I've read that some feel the higher ping has an advantage, others disagree... i can't really say... but in a competitive match (march-making), would it be okay?

Mauritius changed their routing, so i can get around those pings to SA servers now :D :D :D :D

Its flippen hard to hit someone with 150ms ping :/
Explains why I seen quite a few okes from Mauritius lately..

alright, from what i've experienced, i might have a high ping but i have 0 packet loss so its quite playable from my end. looking forward to playing with SA okes again, i dont like connecting to Asia
