CSGO Sticky thread

I know somebody who had an older BenQ and CS didn’t like the monitor pushed to 144Hz. This also happened to be an advertised as 144Hz monitor. I don’t know about the Dell, but that ghosting on the BenQ was terrible, once you switched it back to 120Hz it was normal. It wasn’t as noticeable in other games like Overwatch at the time. I guess the high FPS CS is throwing out doesn’t sit well with some tinkered with panels.

The monitor's second owner also sold it, due to that. CS at 120Hz is also a very noticeable improvement, the perceived smoothness is mind changing. It will improve your aim and reaction time, screen tearing does throw your consistency.
I hope I haven't overhyped it for myself but I'm pretty excited, I've never seen a monitor above 75Hz and my current one is 60Hz. I have an i7 and a 1070, I thought it was about time, I haven't played something at 60FPS in forever.

Definitely no, but as most people who have experience with +120Hz, you won’t be able to go back to 60Hz. If you run 60Hz and +120Hz side-by-side, you will always know that you made the right decision.

It is not only noticeable in gaming. It makes a big difference come editing and so on, but that has mostly to do with input lags. You will note, in Windows, suddenly your pointer doesn’t have a pointer trail anymore (even if it is turned off) ;)

You do get really good 60Hz monitors with really good response times, especially for 4k, but for gaming, it is not the same as +120Hz.

Have fun. Freesync is now in a good place.

Talking of this.

NVidia does give a lot of attention to panels and the optimisation thereof by manufacturers and technology partners. G-Sync isn't a fad, it is R&D,

unfortunately, quality comes at a price.

I will use this 60Hz as my second monitor so I will very easily just drag a window across from 144Hz to 60Hz to really see it.

On a semi unrelated note when I was done reading all the written reviews I went over to YouTube and I saw people reviewing the monitor using an Xbox One, not even a One X and playing Fortnite and I almost cried.

Smoke shots, do you mean one-way smokes? One-way smokes are still a thing, but since the smoke is now server-sided it will be more consistently computed on the client-side. They only really changed this due to users discovering that certain grenades can be manipulated with simple client-side commands without any consequences. It is still possible to manipulate these grenades, but only when you host the instance.

It is weird to know that third-party hosted servers are more secure than Valve hosted servers. These service providers were already aware of this, but when it became thoroughly abused only then Valve acted. Ignoring the manipulation, consistency is a requirement in competitive play so yeah…
Nope, I meant people shooting through solid smokes, not one way smokes. One way smokes don't piss me off, however people who just have the best game sense when smokes start to fade annoy me. I suspect quiet a few people knew how to take advantage of the shapes of smokes to get a better angle. Wasn't cheating, so well played to them, however now that the skill gap has been changed up a little, good luck to them playing against people with actual skill and not peaks.

If fullcum didn't mention it there was a video clearly showing that the smoke fades differently on opposite sides meaning enemies could see you before you see them and visa versa. But alas, I never get the good side...

Should have gone 240hz...

You will enjoy the difference on CSGO! Mine took me all the way up to MG2
My 144Hz monitor took me all the way to Gold Nova 3. I win. I was Silver 3 (Legit, I was Silver 3 at a stage on my main.

I've had a good fade a few times, not even going to lie, but for a lot of the instances I was hit with a bad fade.

Damnit the monitor went out of stock some time during the day so now I have to wait 6-8 days.

Some time ago Incredible Connection had it at a bad ass price. I do know about that Dell, but I am currently saving to get an Alienware 25”. I am not quite at 1440p, I like my 1080p gaming.

I think Incredible had it at something like R3400 at some stage, which is quite close to the distribution price at SP1. Most places have it between R3800-4200 iirc.

That same monitor also went on sale at an insane price overseas, I think it was like $150.

EDIT:

Yes, I know it is overseas, but sometimes these specials come through other means to us. Cough, grey.

It was $190 at Walmart 2 weeks ago.

I'm not getting that Dell, I bought the AOC C24G1.

Some time ago Shroud said that competitive gaming is best played at 1440p, this is him talking about games like PUBG and Apex. Now people who have heard him say that want to upgrade to 27"... I am struggling to get sold on 1440p, nevermind towards that what we are moving at.

That is a nice AOC. LG is also making big moves in the PC monitor space, giving the 'premium' brands headaches with aggressive pricing and good value.

I swear he said 1080P is still best for competitive gaming, he even has a 1080P monitor himself.

I read so many reviews and this AOC seems to be pretty universally loved, this one person has an absolutely massive written review and a 50 minute long review video plus a 13 minute long video on just the OSD which sold me.

You can click on it for on/off toggle.

Unfortunately, it's not permanent, you are gonna come across a very annoying person called monkeyspunk or something like that wishing the mute was permanent.
Dude you totally called it, he screamed at me and used multiple racial slurs.

I've been back for two days since June 2017 and been called a hacker twice, various profanities ranging from cu*t and racial slurs in English and Afrikaans.
