CSGO Sticky thread

First brought to light by Russian YouTuber Mzkshow, it is alleged that an initial hacker, given the fake name ‘Alexander’, coordinated with at least one member of Steam Support to gain access to, typically inactive, Steam accounts with at least $100,000 in their inventory. It is alleged:

Using information about the account from an accomplice at Steam Support, ‘Alexander’ would pose as the account owner to Steam, claiming that he had lost the login details and would provide the necessary security information. Once access had been granted, he would move all the high-value skins to another account and proceed to sell them.

Some of the stolen skins include a famous M4A4 Howl with iBUYPOWER and Titan Holo stickers from Katowice 2014. The skin belonged to a high-tier investor from China, and after it was stolen, it was sold for $35,000. It is currently in the inventory of NAVI player Valerij ‘b1t’ Vakhovsjkyj, who is borrowing it from the new owner – who bought it full price, unaware it was stolen.

Countless Dragon Lore AWPs, Case Hardened AK-47s, gloves, knives and stickers were also stolen. Some of these items are worth over $100,000 individually.

One of the hacked accounts was that of HFB – a Saudi national famous in the skins community who has an estimated inventory value of over $3 million and owns some of the most well-known items in existence.

Yeh, The finals were pretty damn impressive.
Firstly for Fnatic to come back the way they did and then for KennyS to fail so monumentally on Cobblestone.
Oh and let's not forget the drops :D
Cobblestone cases are increasing very nicely in price :D

I will have my Vanilla Huntsman soon.
alright, Fnatic is still there

Cheating in online and competitive gaming is in such an odd place. Cheating in gaming is a pandemic and is endemic within certain branches I am not going to elaborate on. CSGO and CoD have long been exploited by cheaters in both casual and ranked play, as well as in competition. Other titles are plagued too, but it seems Tencent owned titles are doing okay, though not unscathed, due to their hard anti-cheats implementations. This isn’t only happening in FPS, but has also happened in RTS, and controller exploits are known in various gaming genres. This said, so cheating has become a problem in Tarkov, now suddenly cheating is a problem… and is being talked about.

Funny, really. These people should come and play CSGO where you have to be good enough to win against cheaters.

Now that the princes are buying up esports with the intent to own the market Valve seems intent on competiting directly with ESEA and FACEIT so I do expect them to work a paid ladder plan into CSGO as they have already entertained.

It would be sad to see better anticheats and matchmaking being pay gated, but I guess business is business.

CSGO 2.0 is made to make money, not to appease the Source crowd.

It seems like it is real this time.

If they charge for a premium match making experience, I'm down to do that, could be fun

They will expand on their current subscription plan. 360 Stats will simply evolve in my opinion. Since Valve is the 'good guy' watch them up the loot drops which will essentially render the sub a pay as the loot drop service. They should be clever and add a monthly sub as a possible drop. Players will love it, the competition will hate it.

Valve makes in the millions a month in CSGO case keys alone.

Perhaps this is the Neon Prime that Valve registered...

I wouldn't agree on Source 2 being implemented just to appeal to the market but yes it has definitely pumped the market with the rumors going around. I buy and sell CS skins myself and the prices on items has increased drastically within a short time frame.

Valve is killing GO, CSGO will die in the months to come. It is clear that the game will only be known as Counter-Strike (CS). I don't think it will be called CS at all or have anything Source attached to its name. The beta branch may be known as CSGO2 or CS2, we will soon know.

1500x500

No more Counter-Terrorists or Terrorists, and I won’t be surprised that they will call the sides Counters and Strikers. They will need to change their mission stories though, but I think CSGO is to be buried. People like to make noise about the terrorist aspect. Technically, the game is the Coalition Task Force vs. Phoenix.

It has been a discussion point,

and this article concluded it well,

Of course, any change to the game’s current system would undoubtedly be a sweeping one, and Valve would have to consider taking on the thoughts of everyone involved first.

Whether they make a change remains to be seen, but there is clearly understanding from portions of the fanbase already that an update could launch the game’s competitive scene to a whole new level.

Sorry FMPONE,

As I previously mentioned back in this thread. A big motivator to move to Source 2 is to allow better map making. Just like with previous Source 2 ports/branches, the assets are all supported, so all inventories will be supported, albeit some might need tweaks (or rather migration) it should in any case already be handled.

I don't think this game should become too much like Rainbow Six Siege, like they did with their overhaul, but I think that Valve wants to appease a more 'conscious' audience to be better received in the esports arena. It is business.
