CSGO Sticky thread

🤣

These aren't cheaters being banned. Farming accounts. Some will be restored as always. A big wave nonetheless.

It is reported that Valve banned approx. 960 000 farming accounts. This is apparently a claim made by themselves. From the player stats, nothing changed... or maybe it's just not updated. So I am confused if these were active bots or if they aren't detected as users. Then also, farming accounts are behaviourally different. Some are just for storing inventory, others harvest game time, and then you have those in game, and so on.

Neither do I know if this was just for CS or the entirety of their platform.

This is almost a million accounts.

They are still investigating accounts.

FACEIT is ironing out their ELO hell.

I also think that CS should use the same method rather than resetting the ranks with every season. It will also make detecting cheaters by their stats easier.

Way too many 'strong' players springboard with every new season leaving many good players in ELO hell.

Prior to Premier mode, Valve did a curve resets. That helped.

It took them a long time to get here.

Note that it is beta, and that you won't be able to connect to Valve servers when testing it. I only hope that once it is rolled out that we may live to see improved cheat detection.

Whatever Valve is doing since CS2 employed Source 2 AnimGraph there were teething issues and the anti cheat were in a dire state. Perhaps the ML side of their cheat detection is about to make a return. Though with an updated AnimGraph I would assume retraining.

IMHO, this AnimGraph 2.0 update is overhyped. Is the game playing better, sure, but I have now spent around a day's worth playing the update and there are some weird issues. It is released now, but clearly still a WiP.

My k/d improved, but that is by chance. Since I am doing mostly entries, that is a win.

Anyone comparing this to CSGO... well, it is a placebo.

Valve don't know what they are doing. From VACNET to VAC Live back to VACNET again. Renaming things doesn't solve problems. It has been some time since I have seen someone getting banned in this game. The cheaters that I have seen getting banned, including the ragers, get suspended on suspicion and that is a short-lived temp ban.

Mabye Valve is bringing back VACNET which would mean that the VAC Live mechanism is then inclusive.

Their game man... AnimGraph 2.0 was supposed to be promising, and yes, there are improvements, but it is being overhyped. It is like it is released in an alpha state. Whatever the overhaul entails, it opened up many exploits that are still unpatched. There are notable delays, like some players are getting updated sooner than others though this could be network related though the netcode doesn't seem optimal. Even the cheating 'communities' now have an expanded arsenal or so to speak. It is crazy. Even the FACEIT crowd is crying nowadays.

Then also the game bugs. Dropped items clipping. Game crashes. The bomb not getting DIFFUSED!!! Silly, silly, silly... but hey, the pros are playing it in this state, so why should Valve care?

Valve is copying the third-party sites.

Steam Community Market Updates

In beta now: item pages, listings, search, filtering and better asset data

The changes are still in beta, so it is opt-in.

Thia game is juat drowning in bots in the casual section for the last 4 days....

The bot situation is reduced. It is not THAT common to see an active bot in-game, but there are idle bots. The game is way too exploitable at this stage. Valve snipped their anti-cheat because it isn't any good. I saw a player with 7000 hrs get a temporary ban due to suspicion. The account is likely bought, but it is a valuable account nonetheless. Yet, he/she trigger bot like crazy. Is Valve still permabanning??? Feck knows.

I know good players who run aim macros... For them, it is not cheating. Yeah. Peripherals can do cheating in today's day and age. These 'assists' are only banned at competition, and I mean, real-world competition though I think some leagues are too lax and succumbing to brands partnerships. Weak.

I am not even talking about sv_cheats being called where it is prohibited. Nevermind the scripts.

CS2 is in a weird space right now. Maybe Valve is collecting more data to train VACNet, now with the AnimGraph changeover.

Personally, I think their priority is the Steam Marketplace. It is a business model that is being abused by third-parties that has run Valve into legal problems. Though they themselves have taken advantage, it is a thorn in their side that needs to be addressed. Farming bots, marketplace bots, whatever bots, and malicous API use are what they are looking to solve.

Russian names with high ping... Generally get kicked before you can even report anyone or the server. I assume its guys building up their players to get drops or something?

Farming bots. Mostly accounts used to grind weekly drops, ranking, etc. Once the account is spent, they sell/dump it. There are some local people around here that also participate... Just use a VPN or dedicated server, and all you need is commands, not GUI needed. There are methods to switch accounts within an instance in CS.
