What the actual hell is this??

Maxes my CPU out at 100% until I kill the process in task manager... It has virus/malware written all over it but I can't be sure...

It should be in system32, otherwise it's a virus, apparently...

Yeah, csrss.exe I'm familiar and happy with.

Right click on it then go to Properties > Details and find out for yourself.......

I'm not a fan of Win 10 TBH... Totally love 7... If I do a fresh install (and it looks like I might have to) it will be back to 7... I been having issues on my HTPC and now my Desktop, same exe... Something aint lekker on my network!!!

I opened location and deleted everything in the folder. Surprised it let me but now it's doing something different. Different exe, and it's attacking my GPU!! GPU running at full throttle until I kill the process!!! FCK!!!!!

Upload to virustotal and scan it.

For the best part of the last 2 years I've depended solely on Windows Defender for protection. Haven't had the need for anything else but just installed Avast and ran scan of the sys_processes folder... It was this bugger that was messing with my GPU...

You can always count on Avast.

Where do you think you got it from?

Yeah. Avast is rock solid!! Using a free version for now.

Was doing a fresh install on my htpc. Windows wasn't activating even though it's a legit license. Got frustrated so thought I'd download Microsoft toolkit 2.6.6 and activate illegally. Failed and I think I got malware for my efforts. The legit license took soon after. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

If you need MS toolkit you will need to download it from the Devs at MDL.

I can PM you a link for the magnet link.

PS: Try leave a comment where you got it saying its fake just to prevent the spread.

Thanks, I'm good for now...

Yeah, comments were already a mixed bag. My instincts told me to run but my impatience told me to give it a bash. Bloody pain in the backside!!

The reason for the reinstall on my HTPC was for a wireless usb adapter that simply wasn't coming out of sleep mode when I restarted the machine. The fresh install sorted that out but now I'm having this CSRSS issue and Kodi's crashing now too!!!

Frustrating man!!

Toolkit, never heard. DAZ loader works 100%.

If you have OEM SLIC 2.1 in BIOS and you like a little bit challenge, just insert OEM certificate and a key after installation like thw Royalty OEMs do. It takes 5 minutes using built-in Windows commands.
