Cubicles in voting stations?

Did you bring it to the attention of the 'agents'? If you don't ask, they'll never change. Because in our ones our back is to the wall.

Man, just go in, vote and get out - people don't care about your story! :)

Yep. What most folks fail to realise is that the folk manning the voting station are ordinary south effricans who just wanna get paid for the work they performed.

I disagree, Malenema complained about open toilet cubicles being a violation of human rights and dignity, people should complain about their right to privacy being violated in open voter cubicles.

Some people get nervous if they think that someone can see who they vote for - it can affect voting patterns.

ours were facing with our backs to the tent. Nobody could see us. You should have just asked to speak to the official in charge and explained it to him that it is your constituional right to have your vote kept secret and you wish for him to move the cubicles.

If you don't have the guts to stand up for your rights, then don't complain.

Who cares, you should be proud of for who you vote, so what if they saw it. 2000 other people or more will pass the voting station, they are not going to try and remember who voted what and hunt you down afterwards

I started crossing mine before I even reached the booth.

Mine was facing against the wall so no one could see what we voted for. So I just took my time in the booth.

Btw when folding the papers in squares does the stamp have to show?

IMHO this could easily be an intimidation tactic used by the ruling party agents in the IEC to make the fence hopping voters think twice about voting for the opposition.

It is easy to just dismiss this if you would not have felt intimidated by an open voting booth, but it can affect you personally if other voters changed their vote because of an open voting booth where the result is that the ruling party gets to rule again.

We had 3 cubicles. Okay, they were placed so you didn't have people sneaking up on you to copy your work but why did they have more than one? The process was so idiotically slow. One person was let into the room at a time. The slowest point was checking your name off the list by someone who didn't know the alphabet. Inking the thumb and stamping the id book was quick as was getting the pieces of paper.

So - unless you can read off a name, check the id number and draw a line through it all quicker than I can draw two crosses we have too many cubicles. I guess there was a tender to provide cardboard things.

What they should do is have more people manning the slowest part of the process
