Currie Cup 2013

Hehe. The SA Referee spinning machine had to work hard today.

André Watson now claims that the referees were not suspended and that it is normal practice to change appointments for important matches. (and here I was thinking that all matches are import).

Just to confirm. Jaftha was down to referee the Lions vs WP match this weekend.

He goes on to say that it is due to their performances the past few weeks that they have not been selected for the next three weeks of Currie Cup rugby.

I stick to my story and believe my sources are 100% correct in saying they are suspended.

Get us some juicy details... :D

Well even if it is behind the scenes I am happy that in SA Refs are held to some standard.

Of the top 10 refs in the world, the first 6 or something are all SA. Remember reading that a while back - probably hasn't changed. Thing is, Jafta et al are quality enough for international matches in the northern hemisphere because there (NH) referees are such useless, spineless uneducated turds that our locals outmatch them any day.

It also means that in any international conflict, we'll get a sub-standard (7th or worse) referee.

Yah. Top ref used to be Kaplan, is now Joubert, I think. I quite like Peyper, too.

I remember the NZ commentators also mentioning our refs are the best.

In the modern era, I do not understand why an SA ref can not handle the AUS/NZ/ARG games and a AUS / NZ / ARG (if they have good enough refs :o) the SA vs whom ever else....

It is the professional era after all.

5 penalties from the Bulls in the opening 10 mins, nothing said ....... first penalty in Sharks territory and the Ref gives a team warning and then because of that, a yellow. Yep, business as usual for these bought monkeys.

Are we losing?

Here's a huge fukk you to SA's own Poite ..... what a disgrace to rugby you are. I hope you never see a field again, although I'm sure the Bullies will keep you on retainer.

Sharks win 18-16

They deserved to win but not in that way... Referee decisions were dodgy. Bulls got away with a lot and when the Sharks did the same they got two yellow cards.

Nail biter no matter how they played /refereed. Well done Sharks.

That last penalty that lost the Bulls the match was also marginal, ironic. The Bulls did at at a point though slaughter the Sharks in the scrum which rightly lead to a bunch of penalties.

Charl McLeod can also consider himself lucky.
