ohannesburg – ABSA, one of the South African Rugby Union's (SARU) biggest sponsors, are upset over several of the predominantly white teams in the Currie Cup.

ABSA's primary concern regards SARU's "serious lack of commitment to transformation" which resulted in SARU president Oregan Hoskins sending a letter to all unions in which he requested the matter be dealt with.

In the letter, which was sent earlier this week to the provincial presidents of the 14 unions and executive heads and of which Beeld has obtained a copy, Hoskins asked his members (provinces) to deal with the apparent lack of transformation with immediate effect.

Hoskins confirmed that ABSA, as current and future sponsors of rugby, are among other grievances, unhappy about the lack of transformation in rugby in South Africa.

That's four non-white South African players out of 19 in my book. ABSA fail!

I am very unhappy about the lack of transformation in South African banking. Luckily, I don't bank with ABSA or any other racist bank!
 
I don't know the first thing about sport, but all I can say is that looking at skin colour over ability in any sector is just ****ing stupid.
 
I find it utterly sad and pathetic that a bank which was founded by all the money the poor white community had in 1934 as volkskas is now turning their back on them.
 
I'm also not a sports fan, but my 6 month fixed deposit ABSA thingy has fallen from close to 10% to 5.8% within the last 2 years. I think I'm going to start shopping around on Monday.

Goodbye Absa! (who needs "white" investors, anyway)

ABSA must remember who is paying to watch the rugby. If the supporters are predominantly white the sport will reflect it.
 
The thing that I don't understand is why these guys comes out and say that because the 1st teams are predominantly white, that these teams are not committed to transformation.

Transformation doesn't happen in the 1st teams. The 1st teams are who the current best players available to the team are...or at least they have the ability to claim it to be and you can't prove otherwise.

If you want to see if a team is committed to transformation, you don't look at the 1st team, you look at it's transformation, training and talent scouting programs. If you don't see a committment to transformation there, THEN you can complain about it.

When last did ABSA say or do anything meaningfully ? When they grinded me with higher bank charges. ? Shameful absa (Sorry, they don't deserve capital letters).
 
Sounds like ABSA top management are either kissing arse or have been threatened. I'm just trying to figure out who would do such a thing.

Let them do it, they must do it now. They are using supporters' money to slowly change the game to suit their racist agenda. Change the teams NOW! All SA teams, national and provincial must be 90% black starting immediately! Do it!

See how many spectators you have. See how many 3N and WC's you win. Do it! Now!

No, they don't have the balls to do it. Fact is, it will be 90% black one day - but it will happen gradually as has been the case WHILE they milk dumb-ass whites who will pay for transformation.

Do it now! Tired of threats & sick of paying for it. Grow some balls .gov & ABSA. Fulfill your racist agenda. Change it now and let them play to empty stands with no 3N contract renewals. Do it!

While you're at it make the SA swimming team black too.

Why does the NBA in the US not reflect demographics? Why does the US heavyweight division not not reflect US demographics? That is a non-racist society.

Sadly SA remains a racist society, this shows the racist agenda. Continue - but do it now! Grow some.
