I was wondering the following:

1) How many people have tried custom firmware on their android device?
2) Have you broken it while loading the custom firmware and fixed it?
3) If not tired, considered it?
4) Source of custom firmware?

I have loaded custom firmware on my LG Optimus 3D around 20-30 times already. Tried a lot and broke the phone +-7 times and fixed it. Would be a good place the talk about devices, firmware, and why it isn't always good to keep manufacturer's firmware on the device if there is a later version out that can make the device even more kick ass.

Trying different firmware can be good fun but scary the first time you encounter a problem ;)

I was wondering the following:

1) Have you tried custom firmware on you android device? Would be better phrased this way.
2) Have you broken it while loading the custom firmware and fixed it? Define broken.
3) If not tired, considered it?
4) Source of custom firmware?

FWIW, I have been using custom ROMs since the day I obtained my phone. I cannot revert to stock- it is horrible.

@mercurial - Got it changed. Still don't know why...

@GreGorGy - I also been using custom roms on my LG. Even had a custom rom for my Blackberry.
Quite amazed that you made you own rom with Kitchen. Planning to start Rom development but going to go with Ubuntu and build the rom from scratch and put the modules I require into the rom. That way I can have stock Jellybean with the 3D modules. Going to be some work but definitely fun.

Kitchen aint for sissies! And, after trying it, I realised I was a sissy. Wouldn't try again. Actually, I will try again with an older phone first. Just don't have time at the moment. Also built it on Ubuntu.

1) I have flashed my S3 the first day I recieved it, since then probably 10 - 15 times flashed.
2) Broken it once, but easily recovered by flashing a stock ROM via ODin
3) I would recommend it to anybody, better battery life is a plus with some custom roms
4) Always use the xda forums for roms

1. Dunno, but I am one of them
2. A couple of times, but still not bricked - you have to be special to brick a SGS2. Also fixed a couple of friends' "messes"
3. I make sure I am not too tired when I flash
4. XDA FTW!

I realize that it aint for sissies, but I willing to give it a try. Plus i have two phones so can live with a few days being offline with the Android device. Going to go through alot of videos, and tutorial so that I try and not mess up.

I'm actually shocked the amount of people that use XDA. I've been using it for a few years and the information you find there is always good. Also, they are always willing to help(Don't forget to watch the NOOB video. lol)
