Cyberpunk 2077

Been that way since day 1.

It launched horribly but they've done a fantastic job with it, it truly is one of the best games I've played. They deserve all the love as a studio.
overhyped and underdelivered game, of course people complained.
they fixed it sure, but people loved the trailers and got upset when it came out as a Dog turd.

I agree with your post, but there are things to be said.

The game-breaking experiences varied; some people experienced what other people didn't experience. On the technical boards it was concluded to be broken save game data in most cases, where patched didn't remedy issues, but that was more a theory pushed by modders who compared data sets. Nothing on the record was made by CDPR, but community managers didn't challenge those remarks.

They badly handled the PR, and it only improved the day they stopped talking and plucking bad/negative views even where it was constructive. The roadmap had issues, and happily they did decide to postpone the DLC which was a good decision. By patch 1.5, they steamrolled positive reviews.

Did they rescue the game, yes.

As always, experiences vary. On the whole I agree.

That said, I had just about no bugs beyond the occasional T-pose or graphical anomaly, so my experience was extremely positive.

I struggled completing that part with the Animals in their hideout,
becuse I kept falling through the floor and waking up the animals, when trying stealth.

had many many bugs trying to play that game, fix it they did but compared to something like GTA 5
that became the fastest selling entertainment product of all time,

I think you can see why even today after a lot of repairs and patches, people still would rather stick to something they know.

GTA 5 was a broken mess at launch. Just about every new game that gets released is a hideous catastrophe.

I'm not disagreeing regarding Cyberpunk, it was a mess. I just didn't personally have the issues other people did.

Phantom Liberty is also REDengine's swansong. No more IP or expansions will be made with REDengine. CDPR is now an Epic development partner and will exclusively, under correction, use and improve Unreal Engine.
