Hi

Since Saturday I am having problems with Cybersmart. If I configure their proxy server in IE I get Forbidden - You were denied access by access control policy. Their support informed me that the network topology has changed and I cannot use their proxy server any more. Frankly without the proxy the browsing speed suck. Does anybody know of an alternate public proxy that can be used ?

I have 1 but im not going to give it cause It allows you to download and browse internationaly with a local only account. And yes just change ISP. Cybersmart sucks!

cybersmart all week has been bloody awful. time to move on.

Cybersmart user here, thinking of changing ISP as well.

Last 2 weeks have been crap. Support are a bunch of drooling monkeys who point the finger at everyone else for their bad service. A quick look at these forums indicate that the problem lies with Cybersmart.

I know who I am inclined to believe. Seriously, I cant even play Warcraft III locally without lagging like crazy. Hong Kong cable break my ass.

And with all the hysterics, I'm just trundling along at light speed :p :D k Joke on the lightspeed, but all is well with me - I'm in Tableview.

Oh and as for Warcraft III - its a sign - don't play geeky games :p ;)

I don't use the PC for online gaming anymore, my Xbox360 and I have had no quarrel with playing online. :)

Just refresh the page. I am getting that error on a regular basis as well.

I am gonna scream at one of the drooling monkeys tomorrow till I get an answer and a fix. This bulls*^t has been going for too long now.

Refresh cream fresh!

Now I understand what the hell you all of been on about!
If they shape like this - then perhaps it is time to moer out of here!

/takes back previous snide remarks

WA when I used them a few months back for IS local only account were good.
Cybersmart - catch a wake up chinas!
Cheap bandwidth yes - but at least friggin' consistant as well.
You guys moved up well on the rankings of the survey this time round.
Don't slip back down!
You all have never had an active rep on this forum and I was proud of it - cos there was never any hassles, but this bollocks which is happening now is POOR FORM!!

/am I actually speaking to someone? :p

I hear you Shake&Bake and I get called a prick for being arrogant towards them in the other thread. Time to compile a decent email and send it to them later today. I took almost 5 minutes to connect to my cybersmart account this morning. Something seriously is going down the toilet somewhere...

Just a couple of things
1. The proxy is inline/transparent - you do not need to specify it - I am not sure why you are doing so in the first place.
2. We have had problems since last Friday because an upgrade went awry. One circuit was supposed to be upgraded the other downgraded and for some unknown reason the one that was supposed to be upgraded was downgraded and the one that was supposed to be downgraded was upgraded
3. Point 2, effected a whole bunch of p2p stuff. This should be resolved now. Rapidshare should work
4. We are still a bit short of international because we are waiting for additional capacity at the barrack street exchange. We have been given a timeframe of 2 weeks
5. As luck would have it a large number of clients were infected by some worm virus, which was further exacerbating problems. We have blocked port 25 now and you need to send mail through our mailservers so we can catch this problem at the source and before half our ip range gets blocked. Before someone complains that this is ridiculous, it is common practice in the rest of the world and a number of large providers do this , AOL off the top of my head.
5. All of the above resulted in a huge influx of inbound calls, so over the last couple of days, waiting for support has been long ( more than 20 minutes in some cases ). This has been resolved now.

We are not infallible. We make mistakes and last weeks ones were large and numerous. I am still putting out fires and rerouting things all over the show. Most importantly, i am trying to make sure this does not happen again. If you still have a problem, you are most welcome to email me directly on [email protected] .If you would like to vent your anger over the phone, you may phone 083 2750616, you may get my voicemail though, not because I don't plan to take your call, it just means someone has beat you to it and is already burning my ear.

Regards

Laurie

Thank you

To Laurie and the Cybersmart Team

Thank you for clearing up the situation, I think myself and other members of the forum who have been less than satisfied have a clearer picture of the challenges you face. I am sure we will be experiencing the great service we have become used to.

Sincerely

The reply from Laurie is appreciated but why oh why must we use this forum to complain before we get a straight answer? Calls were made and support tell us there is nothing wrong or they are too incompetent to know what I'm banging on about?
Why were these problems NOT highlighted on the Cybersmart website?

If Cybersmart stepped up and admitted the problem earlier then I'd have more respect. Instead we're left in the dark.

I'm sorry Laurie but that's just not good enough - how can you block port 25 without letting you clients know!!?? Have you any idea the inconvienience and wasted time you have caused? I'm changing ISPs!

It's bizzare they just do what pleases without telling the people who pay them.

Yeah I saw that in the other thread - I didn't like the approach of that person either :o

Sometimes when putting out fires, one does whats best for the whole and if the wrong amounts pressure builds up, things tend to seep through the cracks.

A response from laurie that is plausible and IMO, honest.
Much appreciated, but a little automated friendly "spam" would have helped soften the blow you guys have been taking.
At least then for those that could not have gotten through, there would have been some notion of what was going on :o

Thanks though laurie ;)

Hi Laurie, if you are still reading this - some of us need to specify the proxy because we cannot login to some websites - World of Warcraft forums for example as indicated by this thread here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=78938

Secondly, it would be nice to know why this information wasnt made available to the customers who have had to deal with stupid excuses from your support staff.

Before this mishap, Cybersmart was the best thing going for me. Affordable and it just worked. I would love to see it restored to its former glory. 2 weeks you say? How about you upgrade the servers that got downgraded? :P Or can I just phone you and get on one of the fast servers? My guild is suffering progress wise without me!

Hmm, havent used my Cybersmart account this month yet.
Glad this is the last month with them, their serivce seems to be decreasing! :(

I too had the same problem.

What grinds me now is that the support technician I spoke to, made it sound like I was the idiot on the line and now I find out that I was clearly not at fault.

 One thing that pisses me off is a technician telling me what to do without any explanation.

Just a quick question what is this in bold below:

Tracing route to tpr-route-server.saix.net [196.25.9.46]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms home.gateway [192.168.1.254]
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 70 ms 64 ms 71 ms 10.slash30links.cybersmart.co.za [196.15.139.10]

4 70 ms 68 ms 63 ms wbs-ip-esr-1-wan.telkom-ipnet.co.za [196.25.165.
25]
5 * 90 ms 94 ms tpr-ip-esr-1-ge-6-0-0.telkom-ipnet.co.za [196.43
.10.86]
6 90 ms 91 ms 86 ms tpr-route-server.saix.net [196.25.9.46]

Trace complete.

Is that the proxy that they are using or what ?
