Hi all

I cancelled my ADSL with Cybersmart about two months ago, yet they continue to debit my bank account, plus the adsl connection remains active. Even though i cancelled the Telkom side of it already. The excuse the first time was that they never recieved my cancelation fax then once i had did that, one of their people mailed me back and said that the account was cancelled and that possibly the only thing i would have to pay is the Telkom portion. Yet on the 1st of the month they took the whole amount off again.

Anyway just wanted to see if any one else had or is having the same issue and how do i go about resolving it peacefully

I am going through a similar thing with them…
Canceled my account recently. I ended up sending them 3 faxes ( I have proof the fax went through) and called them to make sure they received it, and ended up speaking to some guy who barely knew how to answer the phone so I just hoped it was somewhere in his pile of faxes. But then I see they debited my account again! So I have spoken to some guy via email on their support team and hopefully he is going to take care of it for me... If he doesn’t ill just have to start throwing my toys..
 
Cybersmart aren't very organised with paperwork - and when you see their office, you see why :) Piles of paper all over the place, and they can never find anything that you've faxed to them.
 
It's probably easier for them to place the fax in "file 13" than actually dealing with it. If you've faxed it to the correct number and have a receipt, it must be there! So tired of companies saying they never received the fax.

Neither are they with proof reading/listening to their radio ads.

I heard them advertise (to the tune of the national anthem nogal) 384KB/s for R1xx per month. Anyone else notice that?
 
Ask to speak to Klara, others I've spoken to are complete idiots.
She and another lady working there have done a great job with doing their sums and keeping my account in check.
 
oh and when sending faxes do what i do, call up and ask them to fetch the fax and wait for them to get it from the printer.
 
Yes trust me my debit order failed once and I needed to fax my proof of payment through 4 times before some one managed to find it! Can some one sponser cybersmart with a better fax machiene coz I dont think that one is working to good!
but im going to cancel my service with them now.
 
who do cybersmart use as there backbone? And are there accounts decent for online gaming?

Welcome to the MyADSL Forums! :D

As PostmanPot posted, they use SAIX. These accounts should be ok for online gaming taking into account that they are shaped and do give better pings than the satellite based IS accounts.

Just fax them saying that if they do not refund your money and stop the debit orders you will report them, because what they are doing is fraud. While you at it report them on www.hellopeter.co.za. And you can also report them to consumer rights.
