Spiteful people only spite themselves, but then again he will probably just have a go in 4 or 8 years.
It sounds like he's more interested in world champs in sept that Olympics. He's obviously had a full year already with the grand tour double and a good number of one day races so I'm guessing fatigue is a factor. The olympic road race is almost 300km in a single day.

Ahh didn't know it was that long, he could probably do the TT and still pick up a gold without adding that much to his work load but cyclists probably dont see olympics as main event just like tenneis, golf etc.

TT course is pretty flat this year - he wouldn't be a shoe in for the medal.

Tadej has given his national federation the middle finger and withdrawn from the Olympics. He's pissed that they didn't select his fiance (who's their national champ) for the olympic team.
Between altitude camps, and the two GC's he's spent about 10 days at home in the last 4 months. I am sure if Urska was going to Paris he would too, but with her not going, there was no way he was going to give up some home time.

Totally understandable and correct decision.

Yup, sounds like he's def much more interested in the World Champs:

“For me, putting a cherry on top of this season would be to have a really nice August, to relax a bit, to prepare well for the world championships and then give it my all there.”

I'm sure Ms Zigart ordered him not to go to the Olympics though lol.

Evenepoel gold in the TT
Yeah managed to catch the last couple of riders. Thought this morning dstv wasn't gonna show it but in the end the whole thing was on 217.

Glad I didn't watch because Gerald de Kock is the commentator :sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:

I have no problem with him. Fond memories from when he was doing the cricket and he does the comrades.

Defending Olympic champ Pidcock gets another gold in cross country mtn bike. Frenchman Koretzky silver, but most importantly, Alan Hatherly takes bronze!

Another gold for Remco, the new Olympic champ! First guy in history to win gold in both the TT and road race at the same Olympics.

Yoh, he had a puncture at 3km to go. Nerve racking stuff lol.

Silver for Madouas and bronze for Laporte.

Kristen Faulkner (USA) the new women's Olympic champ. (who?) :p

Marriane Vos (5th in 2021) silver and Lotte Kopecky (4th in 2021) bronze.
