Cycling

Remember next year is the Olympics too so that's where Roglic's focus will be. He won gold in Tokyo so chances are he'll try to go for gold again rather than waste his time and energy going for yellow.

Agreed question will be what is a bigger draw for a cyclist Olympics or Tour de France ? I assume most would say Tour de France and Roglic has already won a Gold so the TDF is all that is outstanding

Well, he has also won more grand tours than anyone else (**** doper froome) in the current peleton.

Hopefully another vuelta this year and then tdf and Olympics next year.

Last night's teams presentation was forgettable. The hosting and silly little character asking questions was as bad as the weather.

Wrt the race, I read this morning that Wout will abandon if his wife goes into labour.
That'll be a huge blow to Jumbo and it may cost Vingegaard dearly.

Has there ever been a good, unannoying teams presentation show? Nope!

Hope the stupid rioters don't disrupt the Tour when they get to France. And no climate lunatic cultists this year please!

Almost time for the start of the tdf. And for those of us dumb and rich enough to still pay for dstv, every stage live from start to finish on SS as always :giggle:

First stage done!

How cool was it to see the Yates twins alone, working together and winning at the end! Never seen that before. Adam the first in yellow this year.

Pumping day for UAE. Stage win and Pogacar taking 4 seconds out of Vingegaard.

I hate the new green jersey btw. Previous one stood out more than any other jersey, this new one will be pretty hard to see.

So today was the first little battle between Pogacar and Vingegaard with Pogacar coming out tops lol.

Hope Pogacar doesn't run out of steam by week 3 like last year.

In fairness, that was in large part the work of Jumbo Visma. At one-point Pogacar was having to deal with Vingegaard, Kuss and Wout, who alternatively attacked relentlessly and often on the same stage, ripping UAE apart and leaving Pogacar on his own.

Yates is a big addition to the UAE team.

True, and no doubt they will try it again. Only this time witout Roglic who played a vital role in destroying Pogacar in the mountains when Roglic and Vingegaard took turns attacking him. The rest of the Jumbo team is the same as last year I think.

UAE have made a few changes so let's see how they do this time with the addition of Yates in the mix. I feel like Pogacar is in a slightly better shape but he has injuries so yeah...

My money's still on Pogacar but chances are very good that we'll see a repeat if last year.

Entering France now and I'm nervous about the dumbass rioters/terrorists.

Pogacar is looking better than expected.
Jumbo is not looking like a happy team. Almost as though everyone is riding for himself.
Wout may have been frustrated but he saw Lafay attack with 900m to go and only had himself to blame.

We've had loadshedding from 16:00 for both the first days of the TDF, and I could not even watch highlights last night due to a problem at a sub-station. Power went off at about 22:00 right after we finished watching a movie and only came back on this morning at 09:30. I've only been keeping up to date reading up online.

We've been lucky so far. Was able to watch both stages from start to finish with no interruptions.

I know I've just jinxed it now...

For those who don't have access to DSTV, I watched on the iTV app last year using windscribe VPN (free). I'm assuming they're broadcasting again this year. If you want to give it a go, dm me for a windscribe referral code which nets you a bonus 1GB each month.

EDIT: I just had a look - ITV is broadcasting again and they have on demand highlights. You do need to register an account, but it is free. Windscribe works well to bypass the geo-restrictions. I'm watching their highlights of stage 1 on my laptop as we speak, and they have a good mobile app too.

That took wayyyyyy too long for what was a relatively simple decision.

Yeah right decision after 20min. Philipsen didn't do anything wrong.
