D3 Wizards: The Arcanum

Got my second Firebird set piece last night (Firebird's Down - the pants) but still have a long way to go. Battling to solo T2 at the moment but that's to be expected I guess. Was fighting the Butcher last night as one of the bounties and eventually had to drop the difficulty down to T1 to finish it.

What passives are you guys using? Currently I'm using:

Conflagration
Cold Blooded
Elemental Exposure
Prodigy.

For a Firebird loadout when you go higher GR's I'd run +- this build:

http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#liNSQO!Zhgd!YcYZac

Changes to consider:

Dominance for Class Cannon only when you feel your survivability is fine but you need more dmg

@AfricanTech yep for group play. For solo you will be dropping Magefist & RoRG for Unity if you have 2

Hmm, I'm running

Blur
Unstable Anomaly

Unwavering Will
Elemental Exposure

Thanks for the link - will go have a look

Edit: Had a look - maybe I should swap Unwavering Will for Illusionist... will try that - I like the idea of having basically unlimited Teleports when in trouble :D

It's not that you will just like having it, it becomes an absolute must at higher torments :D

And remember as a Firebird's Wiz you will never be standing still so that passive is not going to help. Currently I'd guess its still good for you.

Ok, this worked once before...

"Dear RNG Gods, I want a Tal Rasha Amulet with Intel, a Socket, Crit and Fire Damage, preferably an Ancient One. Oh, and a good RoRG as well. TIA"

shoutout to @Vvlol (Impy)

Thanks for the runs last night on GR36 :wtf: - it was interesting to say the least.

I now need to play a bit with that 2-hander Blizzard build you recommended.

You recommended I swap out the Elemental Exposure Passive for the Conflag one, but can't remember what you recommended I swap the Unwavering Will to

Edit: Can't believe I've run out of Deaths Breath  - now I can't craft gems or roll sockets until I farm some....sigh

Good old Impy, still such an helpful guy!

Blur / Glass Cannon (depends if u survive fine)
Unstable Anomaly
Illisionist
Conflag / Dominance / Elemental Exposure / Glass Cannon (depends what u need here)

That's really the options. Depending how your toughness is and who you speak to they will recommend one of those

This looks like it syncs nicely with the 4 set item bonus on the Firebird set (the meteor that falls from the sky and revives you). The problem with this item bonus is the cooldown; a full five minutes. If Unstable Anomaly can fill the gaps in between (with a cd of only 60 secs) that could prove very useful.

Yep

UA is the backup
Firebird Meteor is DR

:D

So I swapped out Blizzard for Black Hole (which elicited plenty laughs in TS upon use) with Event Horizon rune. I've also changed my Prodigy passive to Dominance and Cold Blooded to Unstable Anomaly. Survivability is much better now while my Firebird set item bonus (meteor) is on cooldown.

Next thing I need to focus on now is rerolling several item affixes and complete the Firebird set but materials (in particular imperial gems) are in short supply.

You need to farm with a Broken Helm (I think) - the one that gives you a bonus gem for every one drops.

My build is coming along nicely - I finished a GR30 last night (with seconds to spare) but I think I'm going to have to make a few comprimises to get my damage up - like running with the Ancient Two Hander - tbh, I'll probably need to score a Furnace or craft an Ancient Devastator.

I can get Fire Damage up above 70% but then I have to compromise on the Metor bonus from TalRash - sigh....

Just cracked 2m dps on my wiz

3.2m buffed, playing with the Firebird and Tal rasha, full set buffs

I`m also using a tal-rasha & Firebird combo.

Though I plan to trade my rorg for unity. Halo + Unity will give nice survivability. Which will mean that i`ll have to sacrifice the tal-rasha bonus.

So i`m planning to swap the tal rasha set for firebird shoulders and strongarm bracers.

What are your elementals looking like?

Need to screenshot it, dont think its very high. Im trying not to play with the max fire cookie cutter build, find it so boring. Loving the meteors too much, so focused more on raw dps increases which buff everything.

Now i just need a ancient serpent sparker

Yeah, play with the Broken Helm until you have enough of all the gems you use, e.g. 6-7 on max level. Remember you need some red/orange/green gems for the followers (usually red for weapon, then color to boost their primary stats).

When you get enough gems then switch back to your dps gear so you can clear faster, or use Boon+Custerian if you need gold, or use the XP helm.

Still learning the ropes for a Tal Wiz, I'm guessing that if I want to nuke down rift gaurdians quickly I should have meteor on my skill bar (as opposed to relying on the auto cast meteors). And then spam them when I've got 3 or 4 stacks? I want to be the nuke since I'll likely run with barbs a fair amount so dealing with trash is not really required.

edit: and I'm guessing you dont really want all res on your gear either? Maybe like 300 max?

Load star pact on your bar and double ping anything. Its nice to have 2x 1bill+ DPS meteors smack something
