So are any of you going to be applying for the jobs the DA advertised in the Sunday Times.

They're looking for MPs, MPL, and other reps for the 2014 elections. Closing date is end of March. I am going to apply for an MP position

The ad is in the Sunday Times and I might post a picture of it in the evening if I feel like it.

Hmmm they are losing the plot now. MP and MPL must be chosen by communities.

A commitment to the DA’s principles, policies and programme of action
An understanding of the DA’s vision of an Open, Opportunity Society for All
Leadership skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships
Excellent communication and writing skills
Sound political judgment and the ability to identify key issues
Proficiency in more than one language
The ability to work energetically around a demanding schedule


Approved applicants will become part of the DA’s internal selection process, but there is no guarantee that they will be selected to become candidates in the 2014 national or provincial elections.

In order to apply the selection criteria the DA would actually need to have a coherent vision and set of principles. Also sound political judgment is an exclusionary criteria in DA practice.

MPs earn R900 000 per annum plus perks. Who wouldn't apply

BAH. I think I'll just run against the local ward councillor who replaced JP Beverley somethingorother.
Does that require DA endorsement?

In the last general elections there were almost 18 million votes.

Now 18 000 0000(votes)/400(number of MP seats) = 45 000 votes

So if you can convince 45 000 people to vote for you then you can be a MP and enjoy the million rand salary. No need to apply with the DA
