Unfortunately this entire country has a massive backlog, including Cape Town. A legacy of Apartheid and mismanagement at national levels. The DA couldn't be expected to solve a problem in one year that the ANC to date hasn't come to terms with.

Yes, living in a tin shack isn't great but I want to know why these councillors are promising houses in 6 months when this is clearly unrealistic. And yes they want to know why the funds for stadiums haven't gone to housing, but it's not the DA that's a national directive the provinces must comply with.

And the fact that there are more people on welfare than there are tax payers. ITS NOT SUSTAINABLE YOU HAVE TO TAX EVERYBODY!
 
Why is it the people who pay no tax and contribute little to nothing to this country that complain the most?

EDIT: if I were a shareholder if wouldn't be impressed that I get less benefits for my money than smaller shareholders or even non-owners.

Um, maybe because they are homeless? And just because one does not fall under a tax bracket (ie miners, refuse collectors, etc) does not mean that you are not a valued and contributing member of society. I think the DA are doing well here but please remember just because you earn a 5 figure annual salary does not mean that you are the only one that counts. Many earn a salary but earn only enough to barely survive, does that make that person a second rate citizen?

No but it does make the tax system unfair. Punishing people for being more productive or smart enough to earn more by taxing them more is reckless.

Have a flat tax percentage that applies to everyone regardless of income. Either that or get revenue out of VAT rather.

Are these not alternatives?

It has nothing to do with taxing everybody. It's not the reason, it won't happen unless they change the progressive tax system. Which will never happen.

Huh, after 140 000, you are taxed at R25 200 +25% of anything above R140000. I think you are confused:confused: and it's a typo supposed to be 6, pressed 5 instead of 6 and did not see it.

That person should pay tax. Then included in that is a benefit they will receive in return. To not do so makes them feel entitled instead of contributing and receiving in kind. And that, ronjay, is the problem with this country.

I wont argue with that mate. The problem is that we have tax brackets and the Gov has said if you earn less then so much you are exempt from tax. Total BS, all I'm saying is that there are many who work and earn and are contributing to the country by doing things like remove your refuse etc, you know, the K@K jobs that you don't want to do. These people earn minimum wage and have the same responsibilities to their families as you do, doesn't make them second rate citizens because they earn far less then you do.

No, he said those that don't pay taxes. All I'm saying is that there are many people that don't pay tax because they are exempt from tax but contribute to SA in other ways. Not all people that don't pay tax are lazy good for nothing nobodies. Domestic workers etc are earning barely enough to eat, never mind pay taxes but you guys think that you are the only ones that work hard.
