DA Manifesto

Yes, they stated in their manifesto that they will save 30 billion by cutting corruption, and firing corrupt officials.
They will then spend 10 billion of that on speeding up land reform and providing training and support for new farmers.
And if you look at the rest of their promises w.r.t. millions of jobs, 1 million internships, 250 000 additional cops, 15 000 more teachers per year, 7 million EPWP opportunities, building rehab centers, etc, etc, the remaining 20 billion is not going to be close to enough.

Where did the DA say that only the money saved through corruption will be used to fund this stuff? They'll budget the money from somewhere else.

They'll budget the money from somewhere else.

That is what I would like to know, where else?

In a country of approx. 50 million, with approx. (as per the last statement from SARS), 5 million tax payers, where else is this money coming from?
There is only a finite amount coming in every year, (admittedly it is growing year on year, but only by a small amount) if you take from one area to use in another, the original area goes without.

With regards to the points in the manifesto, have they managed to implement any of these in the WC as reference sites for their success?

You heckled the ANC when it promised this, now you are parroting it.

Yip, Zille was all over Zuma, claiming that public works jobs are not "real jobs".

Also, where do they intend to place these interns? I know that the student organisation had a plan a few years ago that the government should employ graduates or pay for their studies, regardless of the course. Which I thought was a terrible plan.

Yes, as well as increasing efficiency and cutting costs. Some "original area"s need to have cuts. (Government spending on cars, government spending on submarines, government spending on presidential houses...)

when DA has real financial / regulation / labour / tax / border control of the Western Cape?

We are not a federal state, but they do have financial control. As for border controls, the WC is not another country, you can't stop SA citizens moving inside the country.

So sick of empty promises from political parties. History all over the world has shown that promises made before an election have very little in common with what actually happens after the election.

Pretty sure that makes chickens very happy.

The WC can't set up its own tax system as we are not a federal state. Do you agree with me about border controls?

Do you get my point now? I am not arguing with you about WC is a federal state like US or not.
What I am saying is to respond Fudzy because WC can't control many things but they suppose to control "for their success".

Actually, the contrary is true. The chickens know that election time is the time for mass KFC offerings to forget these promises... the chickens are, in fact, very sad.

control to "spend", not the "income". I mean "income".
Afaik, there is nothing stopping them from charging more.

We might not be a federal system, but of the three branches of government only the judicial system is not in the province's power.

Edit: Re employment promises. I don't get these. It's putting the cart before the horse. Growth in the economy naturally translates to growth in employment. Forced employment doesn't help anyone.
