DA undermines democracy!!!

...the council had not met since the end of March this year and had failed to produce a budget for the 2010/11 financial year.

Its speaker and mayor had resigned, and it had not approved integrated development or transport plans.

In April this year, the ANC named Overberg mayor Maurencia Gillion as one of its underperforming public representatives in the province, and ordered her to quit. She hung on for another two months before stepping down.

NOT surprised this hasn't been posted here.

Yeah, I'm also surprised this useless ANC -run council hasnt been mentioned before.

Lets see, the ANC controll the majority of the council, since they are (where) governing. After the mayor and speaker quit, the ANC never appointed replacements (as it were entitled to do), and neither did the council meet for over 3,5 months!

So the ANC councillors served their community by drawing a salary whilst doing nothing. Sounds like a cushy job to me! I'd also be furious if someone found out and stopped me!

The same blind loyalty the MyKKK clan accuse the ANC supporters of is being shown by the DA supporters in this thread.

The duh A did it so it must be true.

Sounds like they set this up and all you DA ***** suckers are lapping it up.
The hipocracy makes me rage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Somehow, and I am not alone in my sentiment, it's you ANC supporters that are the bigger suckers. Of ***** and otherwise ..

the DA can't put that municipality under administration if it is against the law.. Unlike the ANC, they've actually followed protocol here.

Here is some nice facts for you to rage on about :

Gauteng Planning Commission’s Quality of Life Survey, released by Premier Nomvula Mokonyane last week, ranks the DA-run Midvaal Municipality as the top municipality in the province for quality of life. The report reveals that Midvaal has the highest satisfaction rating of any municipality in Gauteng and that Midvaal residents have more confidence in their DA-run municipal government than they do in the ANC-run provincial and national governments. Importantly, Midvaal recorded both the lowest unemployment rate and the lowest incidence of absolute destitution.

The National Treasury’s mid year budget and performance assessment of the DA-run City of Cape Town which praised the City’s ‘robust financial systems’ and job-creation track record (10 000 new permanent jobs and 16 300 temporary jobs), putting it well ahead of other metros in South Africa.
Statistics South Africa’s recent figures that show that, whereas South Africa experienced a 1% rise in unemployment between the last quarter of 2009 and first quarter of 2010, the unemployment rate in the DA-run Western Cape actually fell by 1%.

Global Credit Rating (GCR), an international credit rating agency, awarded the City of Cape Town administration one of the highest possible long term debt ratings: AA-. This was the co-highest rating achieved by any of the municipalities reviewed by GCR, putting Cape Town well ahead of Johannesburg, Tshwane, Nelson Mandela Bay and Buffalo City, all of which are ANC-run.

A Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs report, entitled ‘State of Local Government in South Africa’ and issued in 2009, showed that five out of six municipalities run outright by the DA, including the City of Cape Town, are ranked in the top tier of municipalities countrywide. Another seven that are co-governed by the DA also appear in the top tier.

Hmmm I wonder why the anc does not have anything like this?

Everyone knows the DA is an organization for complainers. They have no idea how to run a country or province.

The fact of the matter is, by placing the municipality under administration the DA was actually doing what a party running a province is supposed to do. Part of the responsibility of a provincial government is to ensure that all the municipalities are functioning. If not, they have an obligation to step in and make it function.

If the roles where reversed, i.e. ANC run province and non-functioning DA municipality, I'd expect the exact same actions.

I'm very positive about the ANC also starting to place municipalities that are not functioning under administration, but I also think with the appointment of people actually capable of doing the jobs are assigned rather than random cadre deploiment a lot of problems could have been avoided in the first place.

IainMarsh put it down ... are you gonna pick it up? :D

In your response, if you so wish to respond at all, Kindly attach references to articles to back your claims.

That is all.

yip haven't been on Off topic often, but seems like it might be worth a couple of laughs at DJ's expense to stick around....

Not just Djtay though... most ANC supporters on here when presented with facts will pull out that race card so fast it will make your head spin :D

to quote Rev. Jesse Jackson:

"God gave you your skin color, so why not use it to your advantage?"

Sigh, another stupid ANC monkey shooting his mouth off about the DA. Wish they including this Uys monkey will get with the programme and realise that the country is waking up to their BS and next year more places will become DA controled :)

In my city the mayor spend 103 days overseas in 3 years, to do what, besides wasting money the city don't have, while Escom is threatning to cut the electricity because of R154mil arears.

The DA didnt aprove the budget on time..why?

Somehow I don't think you read your own OP at all.

Do us a favour and read it again.

Then tell us why the non-existent budget was not approved.

Soon enough we'll have our very own rza in every subforum of mybb. Are the mods utilising the education department's performance tools with these lowered standards? :erm:
