Rich coming from the ANC, but not entirely untrue.
The DA is just as greedy for our money as they are...

Can you imagine the disaster if the ANC had been running the City?
What did the DA do? Besides eventually penalizing the residents of Cape Town for their saving efforts.
They managed to stave off a complete water shutdown.
If the ANC was running the city, everyone would be showering out of water bottles now.
Remember, a large part of this problem is National Government's failure to plan for the national water system growth.
And who is in charge of national government?

So the increased water tariffs are justified correct?
ANC save us from the DA? :crylaugh: First it was the DA wanting to sell alcohol at schools, to adults, at certain events, now it's this good idea.
False Equivalence, I never said that.
My point was that an ANC administration would have stuffed this up royally.
We couldn't sell enough water, so now that the supply has stabilised, we need to hike prices to recover the loss. And when nobody is buying and there is an oversupply, we'll increase prices again. Ad infinitum, until there is one person left paying for everything...The City of Cape Town says it has lost a substantial amount of revenue and restructuring the tariffs was one of the measures to ensure a sustainable source of income.

The DA / COCT are just as guilty as the national government. There's more than enough evidence to show how poorly they handled the crisis. They managed to stave off a complete water shutdown.

Ok. So the DA did good, but not enough to justify the tariff increase (not what you said explicitly I know, but I am making an assumption here)?
How did they do that? They did nothing besides make it residents problem, and now they want residents to pay for the pleasure.
It seems the DA is capable of doing nothing, because its always "national" governments fault.

'De Lille withheld info, interfered with projects'
"She actively withheld information, misdirected officials, delayed budget decisions, interfered with project plans and undermined the rollout of augmentation projects as a result," Madikizela charged.
"Her failure to manage this correctly and to communicate accurate information has played a material role in the current public panic and negatively impeded the City’s response to the current crisis."

“What I’m saying is that the DA government under the leadership of Patricia de Lille certainly failed to execute their duties in proper manner when dealing with the water crisis in the city of Cape Town,” she added.

The DA bungled the water crisis, just go have a read through the water crisis thread.
So by using your same logic, you guys must be staunch ANC supporters then?
Exactly. If water levels go back to normal, and usage increases to previous levels, well pay 250% more.
Why does it have to be ANC or DA? Is that what the DA brainwashing machine has led you to believe?
It's the Eskom mentality, in case anyone didn't notice:
We couldn't sell enough water, so now that the supply has stabilised, we need to hike prices to recover the loss. And when nobody is buying and there is an oversupply, we'll increase prices again. Ad infinitum, until there is one person left paying for everything...
So because I'm critical of the DA I'm an ANC supporter? Damn, because I've been critical of the Anc too, so that must now make me an eff supporter. The COCT bungled the water crisis along with the national government, both are to blame. So by using your same logic, you guys must be staunch ANC supporters then?
