The Dacia Jogger is yet another example from the budget brand of how you can buy a lot of car for not very much money, however the Euro NCAP crash test team has now got its hands on one and it turns out that approach has consequences.
Yup, the Jogger has been awarded just one star out of a possible five for its crash safety. Its score is largely based on that of the Sandero Stepway as the cars share a platform, with Euro NCAP performing a number of tests to verify that the results could be carried over.
The Stepway actually scored two stars last year, but the Jogger ‘uses up the tiny margin that the Sandero had’ to achieve that rating on account of there being no seatbelt reminder in the seven-seater version’s rearmost row. Oops.
Dacia is on a run of not very good scores, with the Spring and Logan MCV earning one- and two-star ratings respectively in 2021. The Duster achieved three stars when it was tested back in 2017, but Euro NCAP’s tests have become more stringent in the five years since. Hmm.

The Dacia Jogger has been called the firm’s “safest ever” model by the company's engineering bosses, after the seven-seater was given a one-star Euro NCAP safety rating last week.
The Jogger, which shares the same platform as the smaller Dacia Sandero Stepway SUV, was awarded the rating because it lacks suitable electronic safety assistance features and does not have a seatbelt reminder for its third row of seats.
Marc Suss, Dacia’s vice president of engineering, said: “This is the result of our choices. We did not implement a seatbelt reminder on the third row because when you want to extract the seats, you need to disconnect and reconnect some electronic features.
“This is not what we call essential. We made the choice to keep it simple for our customers. Each time we are putting a new car on the market, it is the safest Dacia ever. It is far safer than the Logan and other cars. Even compared to most of the cars in the market, we are providing cars with a level of safety features that are far above.”

Camper version of affordable MPV could arrive as a stand-alone model or an accessory pack
A campervan variant for the Dacia Jogger is being worked on, the firm has confirmed, in line with a focus on the 'outdoors' appeal of its cars.
“We are working on it and it should come quite soon,” said Lionel Jaillet, Dacia’s vice president for product, but did not confirm whether it will be a standalone model or an accessory pack.
“This is clearly in our philosophy - trying to extend the level of outdoor activities that our customers can do with our cars, and the Jogger has exactly the right spirit for what we call the ‘social outside.”
Jaillet said the future applications for a leisure-focused Jogger would allow customers to enjoy being with family and friends “using the outdoors".
The form in which this could appear, be it a standalone variant or an accessory pack, however, was described as “not yet defined.”

Ex-Aston Martin designer Miles Nurnberger’s arrival at Dacia coincided with the unveiling of the new Dacia Jogger and came shortly after a radical transformation plan for the marque was detailed as part of parent company the Renault Group’s Renaulution strategy.
Speaking on an array of topics, including the brand's future designs, concept cars, and the car maker's "wonderful" simplicity, Nurnberger gave Autocar the first clues of what to expect as Dacia embraces its new identity and turns to electrification.
When will we see your influence on Dacia’s cars?
“It’ll be years yet for production cars. The majority of my job is spent worrying about cars coming four years down the line; or even as long as a decade. But I have been able to have some influence on the next big model programs we’ve got coming before that; more about the execution of them rather than conception. Just being able to ‘squeeze the lemon’ on them, really.”

maybe they cant secure local rights to build it? maybe as a Semi Knocked down Kit even.
I mean the NP200 is built locally, how hard will it be to bring this to SA,

Afaik a Renault badged version does not exists yet, so they cant even consider it.
Once there are actually out to cater for major RHD markets where they're badged Renault, like in India, then I am sure Renault SA can do the feasibility study & make a decision.

How weight effects performance: THE TRUTH! - carwow
It’s time for carwow to get scientific! We’ve got our hands on a 7-seater Dacia Jogger, and we’re going to put it through a number of tests to see whether weight affects performance.The tests we have lined up are launching to both 60mph & 1/4-mile, brake test, slalom run, hill descent and hill climb! We’ll be testing them with just a driver, with 3 passengers, with 6 passengers, and then with 6 passengers and an extra 200kg of weight in the boot!
So what do you think - will cramming the Jogger full effect performance? You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!

Due on sale in early 2023, it will be powered by the same electrically assisted 1.6-litre petrol engine used by the Renault Clio E-Tech and Renault Captur E-Tech, and will be showcased for the first time at the Paris motor show later this month.

The Dacia Jogger Hybrid is about to go on sale as the Romanian firm’s first electrified UK model - and it's likely to be the cheapest hybrid MPV on the market.
Due to open for orders in January before cars arrive in March, it will be powered by the same electrically assisted 1.6-litre petrol engine used by the Renault Clio E-Tech and Renault Captur E-Tech, as showcased when it was revealed at the Paris motor show in September.
This means the Jogger Hybrid brings total outputs of 138bhp and 184lb ft, supplementing the petrol unit's output with two electric motors – one a small e-motor used as a starter-generator and the other effectively a beefed-up alternator. The combined output is sent to the front axle through an automatic gearbox with two ratios for the EV motor and four for the petrol engine.
Both electric motors are charged via recaptured energy stored in a small, 1.2kWh battery that can also be used to make electric-only running possible for "80% of urban journeys", Dacia says. In city driving, the firm says the Jogger Hybrid is 40% more fuel-efficient than the ICE variant, and it boasts a WLTP-certified touring range of more than 560 miles.
Carrying capacity is unhindered by the electrified underpinnings, with the battery housed in the spare wheel compartment.
