Can they change the name and logo of this event already.

No. It is a historic event with great champions linked to it.

They had already changed it from the Paris Dakar to just Dakar.

The Dakar word, mark and logo are A.S.O.’s exclusive property.

The use of the Dakar name and logo is exclusive to the organizer, the event’s sponsors and the authorized licensees, under the terms and conditions of the present document and of the event regulations.

It also pays homage to the original event and hosts. Such a pity they had to leave Africa.

Only Toyota and mini that I recognize, in the car section. Is Peugeot and Citroën out.

That off road concept car got some pipe coming out to the outside rear wheels, wonder what it is for

Wonder if the electrics are going to do better than last place this year?

If they learned from last year.

My uncle did the Dakar last year, he said it was hell with trying to keep the bakkie going. Said it was one of the most difficult things he has ever done, this coming from a man that did the Cape August a week after heart bypass

Electric vehicle's have less components and are easier to add redundant systems. You can effectively run each wheel as its own independent drive. The weight I imagine is a big problem though. I think if a team threw serious money at one it should be competitive. Will be interesting to see when they start becoming competitive. Probly 5 years at least.

True, but dust and electronics don't mix well
