So I downgraded my account for September and cancelled as well to take effect at the end of Sept. Now they charged me full price for September. WTH. Guess a bank query is required and I will settle their bill manually as you cannot trust them to do the debit order correctly.:mad:

Hi

Please drop me a PM with your account details so that I may check this out.

Same thing happend to me , got the most retarded response when i called . Keeping in mind i downgraded around the 20th . They said sorry i cancelled after their billing cycle , I will now have to request a credit and then have to take it up with the creditors department to get my money back !

So I asked on the if they could just redo the damn invoice for the correct amount , I was told nothing we can do , kthxbai .

Yea well im glad september is my last month.

Im just waiting to see , if the refund process doesn't go smoothly I'm gonna start making my opinion ahem ... well heard :P

Yep same here for me - any way we can get our money back now? In addition I got charged R58 for the 1gb subscription? Is this the cap booster thing? How do I change that setting, can't find it under the my account settings!

This is why they said the cancellation period is a calendar month. You wanted to mess with that so....

Anyway, I thought as much will happen so I decided to serve out remainder of august and September so the billing cycle completes normally.

Hi Guys

I would also advise that you check your billing in the My Account control panel to see if your account has been credited perhaps.

If you have any billing queries, feel free to contact our billing department on [email protected].
Alternatively you can also contact our client services department, however they'll only be in the office tomorrow.

That's why I cancelled my debit order when I downgraded and cancelled.

They said the same thing to me. I told cancel my debit order and I will pay you.

So when I called them to query this, They said that the Cancellation replaced my downgrade but they can see both requests. That does not make sense, but told them that if it is not sorted out by Monday and they show the credit, I will request the bank to get the money back and will make an EFT payment. They are really screwing with everybody and expect us to sit back and take it.:/. They said they will take it up with their managers on Monday to get it sorted out. They claim they charge everybody full price as the new package only kicks in on the 1st. Makes no sense.

Now I am pissed. Just checked my billing and they charger me R398 for September and R58 for 1GB package yet they said they were only going to charge me R29 for the 1GB capped. Gonna lay an instant complain with the bank as this is a breach of contract!!! Did not agree for this to be taken of my bank account.

Total they charged: R457
Amount that they suppose to charge: R29

It really doesn't help that my mweb account has been credited when im leaving mweb ... Now everyone here is going to have to go to the creditors dept, and if they are anything like the billing dept we are going to have more headaches.

mweb is making yet another disaster, this time with billing lol

Stop-order worked on my bank account. Can't really tell if Mweb tried to debit or not, but no charge. Unsure about account status (don't really care) as their billing would send to the mweb-address and not an alternative address.

You seriously thought MWEB's was going to do good by their customers once they've gotten away with outright lying to them?

Nature of the beast and all that .. :erm:

Spoke to MWEB. They debited R199 for the uncapped, and refunded it. Then took 2 months for the 1GB Capped service and said they will refund it by end of Sept and then I can claim for the money back. Will see how it goes.

Not worth the effort right now to get the bank to get my money back. Will see at the end of the month.

Why didn't you just cancel in the first place then?

What I find disappointing is that MWeb were always conceived as the cold, hard corporate with sky-high prices until the whole Free the Web initiative, which completely remade their public image. But since then they've somehow managed to completely ruine the good reputation they suddenly created for themselves.

It takes a special kind of fail to screw something that good up.
