Damn homey....

People peek at different times in their lives. Some early at school, some after school and some even decades later. I have found that the "average" person in high school does a lot better later in life than than those "cool/special/smart" people, simply because there is no pressure on them and very little expectations. A smart person who was at the top of his/her high school class has to maintain their smartness since people are watching them from an early age and that failure in the public eye can be devastating. There are some that achieve great things but I find it is usually not the norm.

Also remember that high school is all about memory. The ability to regurgitate what you where given gets rewarded. High school does not prepare you for real life.

Picard, I told you before, read the link in my sig.

I did, or at least I have almost finished.

I read most of it the night you responded but my attention got ambushed and ... ... I will finish it now.

EDIT: Read it.

I know what I have to do.

I love it when old school buddies come to me and say 'how come you still got all your hair?'. I look at them and notice they are all balding way more than I am :)

lol, balding. Losers.

In grade 7, my maths teacher(Deputy Principal) told us to write a list of the names of people who you thought wouldn't make it in life. That was pretty messed up, not gonna lie. I looked over to the side, saw my name on a few people's lists.

Guess who's working dead end office clerk jobs, guess who's software developer at one of SA's biggest payment gateways.
F*&^ing justice.

Cause and effect. If they didn't write your name, would you still have been driven enough to get where you are?

If I am honest, all the good-looking and successful kids I was at school with are now good-looking and successful adults. A few of the women are actually hotter than I remember as well. The washouts are still washouts too. The movies are all a lie.

Rule #1 in life: Be attractive
Rule #2: Don't be unnatractive

Can't argue with that.

EDIT: Even the dumbass meathead, that while good looking but couldn't put two pieces of lego together, is now a successful small business owner. I guess nobody would employ his dumbass so he made his own plan. Kudos to him.

people peek at different times and view success differently than having the best car + big house + dream job etc.

exactly. And even with that big house/car comes big bills... except if the earn millions then it's not theirs, its the banks.

I'm not broadcasting it. I just sharing it with you lot, anonymously.
Ag you are a sweetie, you will find the perfect person for you. Good guys are scarce. 36 is still young.

There have been surprises. I was very average, but there was a girl who was beautiful, extremely wealthy parents, hung out with other wealthy kids doing wealthy kid things. I thought she would marry rich and live a life of ease, glamour etc. I saw her on FB: become a dumpy matron into organic produce, never married. I couldn't believe it!

Yup, I went to 8 schools in total(5 primary and 3 high).
It was a messed up experience to put it mildly, I got a lot of flack from the 'homeys' being the new guy
