Pretty even mix on my end really. The smartest guy at school is a pretty successful CA. But he planned to be a CA from grade 10 and just stuck with it.
One of the big sports stars is a butcher.
Plenty of the other big sports stars have spent enough time on drugs that their lives are pretty much in the toilet.
Most of the average kids that I know (And am a part of) Have decent jobs and lives, some married, some have kids, some are pilots, some are Small business owners, lawyers, middle management, lower management. The whole spectrum really.

Exactly what you would expect from an average dataset of kids coming out of a decent school

Most of my school mates are either farmers or unemployed now...last time I checked New Delhi.

I haven't heard of anyone I know becoming super successful. Some people have done some interesting things. Most people I knew are earning more than me, but they also work longer hours than I do.

I'm kind of in the same space as Picard (minus the woman issues). When I was young I was a grade A student. Basically always top 3 of my class. Then the family bs got really intense, I hit high school, and I basically played video games all the time to escape the bull**** that was life. My grades dropped, teachers kept on giving me crap about producing average grades (particularly after we all had IQ tests done), and even at university I was pretty much doing the bare minimum to get through.

Now that I'm older and I've spent a lot of time talking to people, there's only one thing I really know when it comes to success:

There are no guarantees.

People you expect to make it, sometimes don't. People who you expect to die in a gutter turn their lives around and accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Ugly people get married and have wonderful families. Beautiful people sometimes end up alone and yearning for a companion.

This world is such a strange place...
 
Half of the clever kids from school ended up being CA's. Other half are still studying 6years later, having not finished their degrees. Those in the top 10-25% have seemed to make it ok - one studying to be a doctor and a few others who are engineers. On the upside I was very average and now I am the highest qualified one from my year. Boom biatch :P

super popular guy in school with me. good marks, springbok colours in sport, beautiful girlfriend, popular with all the groups at school. good looking, great bod. he married that girl (still married - matric 95). he is a fighter pilot in an air force. looks great. i think he made it.
