Ditto, except I have the 0801, which is physically the same. I had the USB power and cable fitted under the dash and trim so the cable pops out discreetly at the RVM. The cams are discreet and pretty much invisible behind the RVM, and I leave them in permanently.
Will take a look at the 0803 and see whether it's worth upgrading and flogging off the 801s.
I first bought a Mini 0801 (without GPS) several months back when the Mini 0803 was not yet available, and while the Mini 0801 works well, the down button was dodgy on mine from the start which was disappointing but not really a problem since one can pull the footage directly off of the MicroSD card and the last thing I want to try and do is press buttons whilst I am driving.
The Mini 0801 has known issues with class 10 MicroSD cards and is recommended for use with class 4 instead.
The booklet/manual that came with my Mini 0803 still states that one should not use class 10 but I think this is a documentation error since one of the main improvements of the Mini 0803 over the Mini 0801 is that the Mini 0803 is supposed to work properly with class 10. I have been using a 32GB class 10 MicroSD in my Mini 0803 and have not noticed any problems.
Overall I think the Mini 0803 has a better build quality compared to the Mini 0801 although they look almost identical.
One problem I have had is that the 12V cigarette lighter adapter for the Mini 0803 stopped working (the green LED stopped coming on) which forced me to use a Micro USB cable instead to power my Mini 0803 from my car's USB port. The place I bought from sells 12V to Mini/Micro USB kits that allow you connect directly into the car's 12V supply obviously one would want to hide the wiring as much as possible.
