Dashboard Cameras

Always thought the dashboard camera was stupid. I still think it is.
Now I see Vw has a camera mount accessory on the seat headrest, much better option, shows the full view of the steering and speedo and windscreen.

Next on my shopping list.

It's not brilliant, but then I don't really have too much to compare it too. It doesn't seem to deal too well with the light flair. Headlights, robots, brake lights etc. but I as you say it will do.
 
For dashcam n00bs, take a look at this very sensible Brit, Techmoan. He cuts through the cant and explains why you don't need the gimmicky flashy stuff.

I can think of few things daffy-dweebier than some huge device hanging off a stalk attached to the windscreen or RVM, with garish video. I want a dashcam that's stealthy (or invisible), semi-permanently attached, so I can leave it my car without worrying that it'll be swiped by a barbarian. So: small, stealthy, acceptable video (1080 30fps), auto on/off, micro/mini-SD, looping, with USB power an signal (cable neatly hidden under trim). I just want the evidence when I need, not a disco when driving. Fit and forget until I need the vid.

I'm about to order a couple of Mini 0801s and a Mobius Action Cam. PM me if interested in piggy-backing. Dunno price or source yet, but plan to order in the next few days.

Taken with the Esquire camera, had to stop every 3 hours or so to clear the memory card though.
 
Bloody hell... that Audi moves....:wtf:

Nice picture. Why the three hour limit, can one add a larger capacity card for longer recordings or is it the max capacity the camera can handle?
