Dashboard Cameras

Try this link -it's for sale on their site as well - http://www.bluechipbranding.co.za/patrol-dash-cam

thats where I originally got mine from, takealot sells the same one, (won it in a competition)
emails go answered to either of these companies.

seems nobody knows (or cares) who is the supplier.

even got details on my other thread, with the details windows picks up, still nobody knows who or what this is made by.
guess all dashcams are not created equal,

Jap Scrap ? One of those containers full of kak being dumped on SA.

who knows, got it for free, and as a first dashcam I ever owned, looked cool,

until the startup and resetting of date issue got to be too much.

I suppose you get what you pay for, its cheap for a reason.

I'm in the market for one..... and from this thread it seems R1K is not enough.

I woudnt say that,

if one finds a decent enough one with a few deleted features, maybe it be good,

especially if its one of the more decent clone dashcams, might be okay for most uses.
I got mine in a draw, so didn't get many options.

This is about the best for close to R1K.. think @johnjm is running this one .. not sure
Yup that's it. Got it at R899 though. Works great.

R2k sounds a bit for the hardcore guys lol

It does something higher than 1080p, not 4k, but I set at 1080/60

Tgats why I did... Ive been watching them on AliExpress and it was R780. It was a daily deal which I never do but it was worthwhile.

Most in Russia are these and the xiaomi

@IvanLeon has one. Don't think the 45 can do 1080/60, might be limited to 30fps. Only thing I hate about the Garmin, is that it requires the proprietary Garmin car charger. If you already use the lighter charger for phone charging, etc , you will have a problem and might have to look for a dual cigarette lighter adapter, which are fairly cheap. . Luckily my car has the front one , as well as one in the armrest console between the seats.

Very happy with my Garmin DC45 - had it since December 2017 - as mentioned in a previous post above - I had the optional Parking Mode cable fitted - so there's no bulky 12V DC socket adaptor or USB power cable dangling from the dashcam anymore - and as an added bonus, I now have Parking Mode recording capability with the ignition off as well.

The DC45 has either 1080p / 30fps or 720p / 30fps recording, whilst the bigger models - DC55 & DC65W - can record at even higher resolutions & frame rates - 1080p / 30fps with HDR, 1080p / 60fps or 1440p / 30fps.

The DC55 has the best quality CCD (3.7 megapixel), whilst the DC45 & DC65W make do with a 2.1 megapixel CCD - the only other advantage of the DC65W is its wider field of view (180 deg lens), whilst the DC45 &DC55 make do with a 120 deg lens.

Also, the DC55 & DC65W have voice command capabilities - the DC45 doesn't.

Further details are at this link - https://www.garmin.co.za/in_car_dashcam_series.php
