I recently moved to a new place for work, where I stay the network is very terrible i.e voice and data. Last night as a last resort I tried my old telkom sim card to my surprise I was able stream a Netflix movie on my tablet. I was thinking of getting a telkom home router and some data deal.

1)Which deal can I currently get (YouTube, Netflix, showmax, and internet browsing)
2) If it doesn't work well how many days do I have to cancel without any penalties?

Buy a prepaid sim from pep, let them activate it. Should be active within a few mins.

Dial *180# and change your tarrif plan to SmartBroadband (will not allow you to make calls any longer).

Register here: https://apps.telkom.co.za/access-manager/protected/view/mytelkom and add your phone number there.

Now you can buy data there, anything from 10GB+10GB up to 220GB+220GB. The 220+220 option costs R1055. It is prepaid, so if you don't like it, chuck away the sim.

You can also buy data after registration from the Telkom app on your phone.

If you're looking for a contract, check if the 1TB deal is still available for R999 a month, it's a mont-to-month "contract".

I think my options are to buy a home router and use the smartbroadband option(the sim I have only used it for monice data) or get sim only data contract of 60gig pm, which ever is the cheaper option.
Any suggestions of a router?

B618-65d or B818. There are others you can use, B315, B525 etc, but I would personally only vouch for the first two.

So here's an example of the pre-paid prices for data (it carries over up to 60 days if not all used).
