So then why do people say Virgin is unstable when all they have to do is roam on Voda?

Personally I find a huge difference between roaming on Voda with a Virgin sim and using an actual Vodacom sim, I think the traffic is routed differently but on Virgin even though it stays connected its MUCH slower, connection tends to die sometimes etc.

I would even say it may be more stable than Vodacom's vlive! was in my area (stability issues on vlive! were the reason I switched networks to begin with).

Virgin's vdata apn is infinitely slower than Vodacom's internet apn, in my experience anyway.

well im thinking of porting to virgin soon because of voda not dropping their data rates..why should i pay 4 times as much for data? and also voda seems to be aiming for 2010 as a launch date for PPDBs so i guess im forced to port to virgin. Ive been with voda forever but now that theres choice the only thing thatll keep me with voda is if they drop their data rates.

I've tried roaming on vodacom but it seems to be slower than the virgin/cell c network in my area. I've actually got better speeds on virgin gprs than vodacom 3g on some days.

Yes, that loophole... aah, the good old days

The vlive APN remained slow and erratic even after it started to charge me again (not to mention expensive) and that's the reason I'm now on Virgin Mobile.

Well the vodacom roaming tip works for me sometimes, ad sometimes i have to suck it up with the slow speeds. At least when the speeds are so slow i get time to finish some work, so everytime my boss waits in anticipation for the "virgin speed slump" so i can do some work... actually so we both can do some work.
