When will the prepaid and bundled data cost per megabyte drop?

Kind regards,
Johan

Yes, 50c per MB. And slow speeds, and frequent disconnects...

Currently, the lowest price on Vodacom is 39c/Mb for 3G and 49c/Mb on HSDPA, if you buy a bundle.

And in anticipation of the next question; I'll see if I can get a date for PPDB's :)

50c a meg for e-mail or small stuff I a good price. R2 a MB from Vodacom shot my account up each month, before adsl.

Surfing here and surfing there (email and this forum) cost me nearly R45 a day. And then I was limited to do browsing to a minimum. :(

I use virgin for all my internet requirements. I've downloaded stuff, emails, surfing etc. And I'm happy. You must just remember to set your phone to use vodacom's network. I have a disconnect about twice a month. I would like to have 3g or even better, unlimited internet, but for now, I'm a virgin! :D

What do you mean?

Well what do you mean "Vodacom's Network" and how do you do it.
Yes we will all have to go to Virgin as I have had to sell my Yamaha R1 just to keep up with the bills. ;)

for the average pre paid user like me. PPDBs are NOT going to help me.... i need a LOWER flat rate.... i dont have money to buy extra data bundles... ive been forced to use virgin, sure the service is crap and the connection is slower than the justice system but its cheap and thats what i need. NOT PPDB.

Playing any type of online game on Virgin is impossible. Vodacom FTW.

oh my someone has a motorbike fetish. . . who knew? lol virgin is crap. i know that. but it gives me what i need. vodacom isnt doing that right now.

You can roam on the Vodacom network with a Virgin Mobile SIM by manually selecting a network on your phone. Although you will still be limited to GPRS and EDGE speeds, you will have the reliability of Vodacom's infrastructure, while paying Virgin Mobile rates (50c/MB all day).

I was on Vodacom for 6 years and have now been on Virgin Mobile for about 5 months and I must say that I am very happy. I will only consider going back to Vodacom if Vodacom were to introduce more competitive prepaid (out of bundle) data rates.

So then why do people say Virgin is unstable when all they have to do is roam on Voda?

Good question. I had some serious instability problems on Virgin, even while roaming on the Vodacom network, the first week that I joined, but now it's fine. I would even say it may be more stable than Vodacom's vlive! was in my area (stability issues on vlive! were the reason I switched networks to begin with). Just for the record, I don't roam on Vodacom's network - I perceive it to be slower than the normal network (using Cell C towers), but it may just be my imagination.
