HI there

We are moving into new house. There is currently no Fibre available so I am looking at Fixed LTE.
Generally what is the data usage per month for when on a daily basis there is one laptop using the
service for zoom calls and other online work related tasks and then at night streaming DSTV/Netflix/Youtube
including 2 Cellphones ? Also any preferred service provider. We are located in a good reception area.
Thanks in advance

Re data usage - difficult to tell (for me, anyway) as I think it depends how long your Zoom calls go on for, and then on the resolution you want to stream things at - 720p / 1080p or more ?

Regardless as to how good you think the reception is, do some speed-tests first at the new place, and even then, you may come unstuck - MTN, a case in point.
I also had decent reception, and then late last year, experienced regular, daily cutouts - this was MTN via Afrihost, and there are others, I now see, having similar issues more recently :

If you have good reception for Cell C (the Home Connecta Flexi Bundle - https://www.cellc.co.za/cellc/home-connecta-flexi), I think that'll be your most cost effective prepaid bet currently, but personally wouldn't throw all my money at it each month, without a backup solution ; also, I think they've committed to this pricing & data values until the end of September.

Have you read all 17 pages so far :cautious: as there are very mixed results :

Where I am, Telkom LTE seems to work out the best for most cost effective pricing & performance, and at least their network auto falls back to 3G when 4G goes out temporarily - this happens for a few hours, generally, after power is being restored, after load shedding.
Cell C is only 4G (per their PDF I downloaded some time ago), as is MTN via Afrihost & Axxess ISP, so Telkom (in my view), is more flexible (3G and various 4G spectrums to choose from in the router settings - 1800, 2300 Mhz, 4G only, Auto, 3G only).

Telkom LTE prepaid direct prices are :
80 (Anytime) + 80 (Night) GB = R559
120 + 120 GB = R759
220 + 220 GB = R1,059 - even this might not be enough for you, wrt streaming every night ?
The anytime data lasts 2 months ; night data for 30 days.

I think 1TB or unlimited data (?) on contract is around R999.

Hope the above is of help to you ; others may have better suggestions.

So the other option is to go the ADSL route and wait until Fibre is available in our area.
This will sort out the 3G/4G issue and also do not have to worry about towers being down during load shedding.
