Data Usage

My DuMeter result compared well with my emailed bill of last month. I will PM/post you my newest usage when I get my next bill.

Currently I have my flex setup as a modem, which normally gives more accurate results. This will also be applicable to Prime and Lite.

BUT, for Flex people using a usage monitor via their wireless or Ethernet things change. Even if you have a separate Ethernet port (monitored on its own) you will now also be counting the Ethernet overhead. When doing 1500 bytes packets the overheads will look small, but if you request 10 bytes on a regular basis the overhead is larger. This boils down (in a good way) that your monitor shows that you have used more data than actually used on Neotel. So this still requires some feedback from Neotel.

In the last 3 1/2 years of using DuMeter my Vodacom bill was almost always within about 10mbytes from the monitor.

I appreciate all the positive and negative feedback from everyone.
Perhaps others will move to the DU meter for now, until the usage tracker is complete.

At least when i see it next week, i will be able to give better insight to it on here

@Neotel I cannot use DU Meter as I am connecting to the flex device via wireless.

1. xbox360 (cannot run DU Meter on that)
2. ps3 (cannot run DU Meter on that)
3. My Notebook
4. My fiance's notebook
5. My mobile phone
6. Her mobile phone

So I cannot track usage at all

Please just give us a web application like ALL the other ISP's that we can login and check our usage / connections etc...

Jeanres - situation still stands as yesterday when we were talking about the usage tracker. App alone or system, i will post the link when i also actually have access to it, be it a beta or official.

Lets see what comes of next week when i see it.

I will give you a screenprint of my firewall usage logs at the end of the month and compare those to my bill

@Neotel you where speaking about a app like VMC..... Thats not going to help me much as I dont want to install that app @ work to check my usage.

Was giving an indication of how i initially presumed it to work. Officially, i dont even have a clue at this moment. Only next week. So be it a self standing app or http add, its still sitting in the unknown (X - files theme tune plays now) zone.

Jean , give him a chance. He has just been allocated to that jobspec and so far he is showing a great willingness to help. You do not know "everything" a company is doing when you change jobspecs. It takes a while to get all the info. I personally think that there had been no preasure at all for teh bandwidth management prior to this. If after a while he doesnt shape , we can always to back to nuking Neotel's name.
 
Update

Ok, besides going to see the model next week, and i won't take no for an answer, this is the update i just got on mail:

Quote "The UAT is supposed to be taking place before the end of November
Then 1 months full billing cycle testing, assuming no errors then available from January" unquote

But let us park this till next wk and then i will give a full analysis and breakdown of the UT on here.
I'm being transparent on here with you guys so that you know what i know!!!

Already, as you should see here, the feedback to me is different than earlier with dates 18 - 22 december... ????

I don't want to offer you that as only solution and don't want you to terminate, so am trying to find other ways.

I'd go as far as sending you a daily (every morning or eve) update on usage to date if it'll help until the UT is available?
