Database Lets Britons Find Slave-Owning Ancestors

The British, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Romans, Greeks, Ottomans and every other large empire history has seen got rich by racism, subjugation, looting, colonialism and genocide; British version of Nazism.
At least this is a tiny step in the right direction. They have a long way to go to atone for their crimes against humanity.

FTFY.

Those British who did that are long dead. They cannot atone for those actions anyway, so let it be.

You left out the Zulus. And the Danes. But that may open a discussion on racism and colonisation.

True. The Viking kings made themselves wealthy off of lucrative expansions as far as the Volga. And how would the Ancient Egyptians have built their colossal pyramids without armies of Nubian slaves?

There that and also the fact that most black slaves were actually bought from their own people.
And one wonders when the Chinese are going to demand reparations, as they were much better slaves than black people and more widely used.
We used them here in our mines as blacks were too hard to educate
Does this excuse slavery in any way? You repeat this quite a bit. Like it makes it alright. there is always some guy some where of any race who will sell his sister for a couple of bucks does it make it right or more acceptable?

It just means that you owe yourself reparations for something you didn't actually experience, even though you didn't do anything.

As I understand it no one is getting reparations. Its just a database of people who were "paid out" for slaves when the law changed.
No one is suing any slave owner for great grandad's back pay.

So did every other culture and people. Everyone's poo stinks. Including your ancestors.

Not in money, atleast..

There are lobby groups that are calling for that, and countries. and they aren't too bothered about proving your family history, they'd rather just apply it like a blanket.

Why not demand repayment from everyone, including your own ancestors? Or are you racist and just picking on whites?

There are plenty of blacks in the UK getting reparations (the dol).

And where did I pick on whites in any way in what I said? I said Slavery is wrong no matter who did the selling that's all. I don't need to pick on anyone to make myself feel better and neither do I feel the need to deny the past.

I have reread your post and maybe I did take it out of context and for that I apologize. At least you did not call me racist against white people as someone else did. Ye old Race Card, Should put two of them in Every Box of Bicycle Playing Cards sold in South Africa.

Oh here we go again.

Ok, everybody...today we wallow. Two queues - one for the mire of guilt and eternal atonement and the other for the pool of self-pity and everlasting victimhood. You know where to line up. Carry on.
