Hey guys, perhaps you can help me.

I have a problem with my pc which is under Win XP Pro Service Pack 3, Everytime I Restart My Computer the year changes to 2008 or Sometimes 2007 but the date and time remain the same. I tried to scan with my NOD32 V3.0 (definitions updated) but can not find any Virus/Malware. I did Windows updates etc, nothing.
I did notice than if I booted in safe mode, the date is unchanged.
I did try disable everything in Services and Startup, with no luck.
Im really not looking forward to re-installing windows.
Net time and W32tm has been tried with no luck (single pc)

if someone has any information about this problem, Tell Me

Thank in advance.

Is this by any chance a hp compaq pc.
Also check the internet time tab is unselected .

Yea it is a HP Compaq pc. One of my clients in Melkbos.
I have unticked that option. It does not make a difference.

I have been online all day and cannot find a solution.
Looks like a Re-load is on the cards.
There goes another wasted day :o

I had those problems already with hp,replace the cmos battery and try again. If this dont help please set admin passwords in bios to reset.:)

No reload my friend. Its got to do with the battery and the power on passwords in the bios.
Its a laptop right a nx series one.Is this correct.
DO this for me:if its a laptop
Remove the Battery

Remove the Hard Disk(not required anymore keven)

Remove the DIMM Memory from underneath the Laptop and remove the 2x KEYBOARD screws

Turnover laptop and REMOVE the KEYBOARD by pushing back the 4 x Spring clips between keys "esc" & "F1" - "F4" & "F5" - "F8" & "F9" - "F12" & "DELETE"

Remove the 2nd DIMM Memory and Unclip the Battery from Mainboard.

Leave for 5 mins then start with mains ONLY no battery or Hard Disk

BIOS NOW RESET including Password

Switch Off and now put all back together

Im not on site at the moment so I cant check CMOS date and time, but are you sure?
I rebooted into safe mode and the date was correct.
Only when I boot into normal mode (even with all options disabled) is the date 1 year back exactly.

I cant see a battery problem doing that.

no its a HP PC. big black one. about a year old.
I dont remember seeing anything regarding a cmos password to set, but ill check again next time.

Oh wait I did remember going into cmos. The date was correct then. was even correct going into safe mode. once loaded into normal windows, was the date 2008.

you might have a different problem but it sure as hell sound to familiar to me.I repaired one like that with the time prblem.YOu need to at least attempt to rest the bios and passwords, just to be sure.

Sounds like it has the wrong time zone selected and its not syncing to the time server right. Also check day light savings times.

Strange, have you disabled the windows time service?? What runs at startup? Any event 35 (or windows time) entries in the EV?
