Datsun Go! Thoughts

Maybe Datsun are targeting Citi Golf owners wanting to replace their 1974 technology cars!

I drive a 2008 Citi Golf (My third one, indestructible little monsters.). My car has more features than the Go.
My feeling - R15 K too much, and way too budget at that price. I might be interested in the Bakkie version for R15 k less.

Bakkie will be R10k more at the very least... and it will still sell like hotcakes.

I'm sure that it will. Nissan is going crazy with the number of commercial vehicles now. This Datsun, the NP 200, NP 300, Patrol and Navara bakkies. They also have the NV 200 and NV 350 vans.

Will the Datsun be sold along with the rest of them, or will it replace the NP 200?

The problem with the cheap cars without ABS is due to their low value if you have an impact the chances of a write-off is much higher. The chances of you having an impact is also higher because you do not have ABS.

In this day and age anyone buying a new car that does not have ABS might as well ride a bicycle like I do.

Oh, and they stole that name from one of the few VWs I actually like, the GO!

Eh? VW Go!? Up!, maybe? :p

The Gol, far as I have it, shares much with the previous Polo - it's not dissimilar to the Vivo in principle. That name though...

My bad, the GO! became UP! when it went into production. While it was still in concept phase it was called the GO!
Either way Datsun did bad.

Why anyone would want to buy a car that is produced only for the third world. As fas as i know they selling this car only here, India, Russia and Malaysia. The price is Russia is similar 6300 euro.

The gol is a different car. He's talking about the VW go. Either the Seat or Skoda version is called the citi go.
Yeah, Skoda CitiGO, but...

... the Go Concept preceded the UP!, and was a design study by Giugiaro... whom I do believe VW have a controlling stake in. The Up! was known as such, even in concept form. The name stemmed from the Lupo in the same way as the concept Scirocco was known as the IROC.

But yes, Datsun done goofed far as I'm concerned. :p

I see Milnerton Nissan has a section with bold Datsun signage with a few GO's there. I think the oldest "old school" feature of the GO must be the handbrake.

No ABS
No Airbags
No sale

Watch enough Youtube car crash tests and you will never drive without those 2 items as well as your seatbelt!
