Datsun Go! Thoughts

True, but both look pretty dire. If your budget can afford a new Go rather buy a used low mileage 5 start NCAP b-segment car.

No one buys a car with the intention of smashing it. Out of ever 1000 sold about 10 I would suspect end up being totalled. That being said, I won't buy one :o I can't see an issue with someone who does though.

I classify the Euro crash rating to be very high on my list of new car priorities.

I just bought an Ecosport for my wife and kids. Saw it was 4 star, was turned off. Only when I read into the crash report was I comfortable buying it because the vehicle only lost the 5th star due to a lack of pedestrian safety. I don't give a damn about pedestrians - if they in the road they deserve to die (excludes innocent kids) - I only care about occupants.

If the Ecosport had lost stars because of occupant safety, I would've shopped elsewhere.

+1 it was the main reason why I bought my last car, my wife and daughter uses it and 5 start is the minimum for me.

-1 pedestrian safety should be as important as occupant safety.

We'll agree to disagree. In this country, SO MANY accidents are caused by pedestrians wondering around on the road and often in an intoxicated state.

If they put themselves in front of myself or my family, especially at night, they deserve what is coming to them for threatening my loved one's lives.

And all the other vehicles you bought/driven before? :p

I can't be arsed. That being said: Most new cars have a pretty good rating anyway. I'm not very inclined to buy anything from India, however the Figo the wife bought is pretty decent. I doubt I'll buy something Indian again though.

My Bakkie will probably have a 0 rating. No airbags, chassis built.

When your walking on the side of the road, and some drunken madman accidentally hits you, I'm sure you wont be saying the same thing.

Drunken madman unlikely to be driving a 5 star "pedestrian safe" vehicle...

Guys, I am not going to change my thinking on this. I pay big money for a car to protect me and my occupants. I do not worry about pedestrian protection. You guys are not wrong in your thinking - I have just decided differently.
