Dave Grohl defends Grammy speech

There are so many "artists" out there that don't even deserve to be who they are, because they cannot sing for the life of them. It's ridiculous. This is confirmed when they have to perform live. It's shocking. There are very few people who can actually sing and who deserve to be singers/artists. How do they even get contracts? There are so many trash/rubbish singers out there.

singers VS recording artists - there's the difference

The problem all started when artists started making more revenue from albums than their performances. But luckily the internet is changing this ;)

Get out there and tour you lazy ****ers!

ohk dont flame me but that adele chick's live concert was horrible. she sounded horrible. i couldnt believe it was the same chick that we have been listening to for months before that...

I thought her concert at the albert hall was very very good.
Adele is pretty spot on with vocals from the performances i have heard (not been at though).

There is also quiet a difference to seeing a recording of a live concert, and watching a concert live.

+1 I was watching the Grammy's the other night and she was one of the few artists who actually sound like her recordings.

iirc she also very recently underwent surgery...

True music lovers will always be able to identify proper, talented singers from the wannabes. ;)

Not going to flame... but TBH you don't know what you are taking about, you must have a bad TV or something.

Its widely accepted to be one of the best performances of our time.

IMHO, Dave Grohl was spot on. Too many musicians today are using digital enhancement to hide their own vocal shortcomings. And dont get me started with T-Pain and that $%&ing Auto-Tune.

The posters on this thread sounds like a bunch of opera/classical music elitists.

Not elitists, just people that appreciate real music, and we're sick and tired of this cookie-cutter Pop karaoke singers, it's such a pitty that these k@k pop singers are being pushed all over people as ''Music"

I put the blame squarely on Idols/X-Factor, everyone now thinks they can make a record [and with just a bit of money, you could actually], You don't need to be able to sing, play an instrument, write lyrics, write music, no ... just pitch up at the recording studio, let the producers and mixers sort out your k@k, and sell a million albums. In the past, for you to be able to record a record, you had to able to do all of that, and more.

Pop artists are nothing more than cash cows for record labels, and not music, that's why i call them karaoke singers.

But as long as people keep buying this "music" record labels will keep cashing in.

Nevermind [hehe, see what I did there] that Grohl was in Nirvana, he's still one of the purist, that believe music should be from your heart, and head. Nothing can speak to people like music, unfortunately, Record companies couldn't give a rat's ass about music, they want artists to bring out 2 albums per year, at a couple of million profit per album.

Remember the days where it took a decent [not even brilliant] band 2-5 years to produce the next album.

But there is hope, the internet WILL one day, be the death of pop singers, and record companies!

foo fighters are awful, i know its urelated to thread story but they are awful. i mean, id rather listen to a woman scratching her nails down a blackboard all day than the foos. nice bloke though is dave.
