So what prepping have you done for when the taps turned off. How much have you spent so far?

I have stockpiled about 10 x 5l water bottles.
I have a 600 l tank for grey and rain water, a tank pump, and then another improvised grey-water system with a bucket and fish tank pump.
Miscellaneous items lying around that were either meant for the tank setup or will be part of the tank setup.
Various items I have attempted to use as water filters.
A million other buckets for catching shower water etc.
Just managed to get two 25l water containers with taps today

It doesn't feel like a lot but I have spent a fortune, over the last year its well over 4k, its always R500 bucks every time I go get something.

I have not spent any money specifically for this purpose.Had some containers laying around for grey water collection.
Use borehole water now and then.Probably wont go out and buy water either. If its my time to go,so be it

I'm heading to Gauteng until this blows over if/when we hit day 0.

Throwing money at the problem only solves the immediate problem.
Then there is the problem of safety of your supply, secondary shortages and whatever else.

Ya, this was my initial philosophy. I haven't got anything that I wouldn't use if there was no drought. Everything I have will be useful in a normal year when its the dry season.

I just feel like I have been sucked in to some silly things now...

This whole thing is like having your first child. You believe everything's going to be ok until the day arrives... Then you very quickly realise how unprepared you are.

Currently raining in Pretoria. I feel for you guys.

I would have had my first child for two months when day z arrives...

That said, stockpiling water like there is no tomorrow.. live in a flat on the 6th floor, so no borehole water or tanks for me to collect water..

There is no money to up and move to an area where there is water.. so I can stockpile water and see what happens..

Should maybe invest in some pep store clothing or, insert other cheap store here, as well to overcome the no washing of clothes issue..

Hoarding shotguns, machetes, crossbows and arrows plus metal sheeting to prep the vehicles. Have some swords too, so might unpack those and make sure they're sharp.

Well if it is like having my first child then there really is nothing to worry about.

Got around 50 5L bottles (been stockpiling since November last year). Hoping to have 100 before April.

Also hoping to get 2 x 5000L Jojo tanks installed pretty soon.

Some buckets catching shower water and water from basin.

Where do you keep 100 bottles ?

I don't think that's remotely enough water?

Kinda hard to tell at this stage?

In my experience 5L per person for cooking and drinking equals about 4 days. (This is assuming you're at work and also drinking juice/beer, so basically just using it during evening). So that's easily a month's supply. NB no washing incl.

Assuming the city has it's sht halfway together he can top something up in that month. So seems about right.

Rather be safe then sorry. Queue's to top up or purchase will be insane.
