DCS World. A serious combat flight sim

Anyways. Quick question.

Have any of you guys had a scenario where you reached your maximum number of activations? Being a geek I often fidle with stuff I should'nt which ends in me reloading the pc.

If you are going to fiddle or instal a new drive etc, you can deactivate the game.
Do that first then when you reinstal it does not use up another activation. See link.

Sorry about Wednesday, apart from my one engine (other one shot to sh133t) crosswind landing drama, had a little crisis at home so left rather abruptly.

Sneeky, no worries. After those pesky tracers tore my plane to pieces, I logged out and back in, had trouble with my NAV alignment, and when I looked again it was just Flanders and myself left.

We went on to try an aerial refueling, he made it look so easy and by the time I figured out that I have better luck with speedbrakes and 10 degree flaps, I ran out of fuel. Had to bail eventually cause no airfield was nearby for an emergency landing.

I'll be flying at 20:00 tonight if anyone is keen, and want to start a regular Sunday 16:00 session too if there is enough interest.

Thanks for all the replies on the activation question. Seems like it won't cause any issues.

I've got DCS World installed and the older version with TARS support is busy downloading.

Battling my butt off to make my joystick work properly. Logitech Force 3D Pro. Its super sensitive. Nothing that a few hours of trial & error can't fix. After all, between me & google we know everything

Kaot, I responded to your skype msg. I did some JTAC tuts and I think I know vaguely what's potting there now. :p Also re-tested the re-arm/refuel at that base and it worked so I don't know what was up the other night.

Jimmeh, looking forward to having you join the posse. In game you can add some curves to flatten out your stick.

When my boet gets back, and with kat sorted, that'll be 7 of us. Almost enough to start splitting into 2 flights...ooooohhh! :D

Nice one Flanders, much better luck than that first night. Good shots with the GBU-10's taking out groups of arty with one pickel :D

Woah, you hit multiple targets with a single pass, using GBU-10's? Did you use different lase codes and buddy lase? Or were you using the GBU-38's which would make much more sense to me.

Nah, we were on the same lase code so made sure not to lase simultaneously. It was a GBU 10 in the middle of 4 mobile arty. 2 of them blew immediately and the others shortly afterwards.

Kaot, I tried to review the CBU 87 crash incident but the track file is kaput because of the crash. We had quite a surface wind so I compensated with my SPI offset slightly in the direction of the wind and set HOF to 300ft so that the spread would be very limited at the time of impact. As soon as the cluster impacted, the enitire area looked briefly like Hiroshima on that fateful day in 1945 and then we were staring at our desktops. :(

I'm trying to solve our JTAC's little temper tantrum at the moment.

Some screenies from last night's mission. Forming up on Kaot as he calls up JTAC and rolls in on target...

Good times!

Practiced a single player mission last night called "Surrounded". It's great bombing practice, you only have CBUs and a few Mavericks, and have to protect guys holding a town by bombing moving targets. It can be a bit tricky, but I've hit a few so far :D

Who's up for flying tomorrow night from 19:30?

Played chicken with some AAA last night.

There are few things as satisfying as flying into a blaze of tracers, with cannon humming, and seeing that mofo going up in a puff of smoke!! :D

:D
Remember the first time I came up against AAA. Protect Camp Yankee I think it was called. Returned home with multiple holes in my hog, and a surging left engine. Bastards also shot my right tire out.

I got away without a scratch though, I was flying straight at it and while it was firing it looked like it was still adjusting it's aim towards me.

Get f*@%ed up by a MANPAD right behind the second AAA I took out like that. JTAC specifically requested cannon though.

Download a10 1.1.1.1

Any sponsers for a key:D, no bucks to purchase it yet.:D

Hehe, maybe start flying the SU-25. I'll see if I can get a mission where we can use that with the A-10.

Payday is getting closer, though I just ordered my TrackIR 5 :D

(I'm running DCS World and A-10 1.1.1.1 so ready for ANY multiplayer action you guys want to throw my way!!)

After trying DCS World mutiplayer to look for some random servers, I kept crashing to desktop.

Found the following thread related:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92899

So along with waiting for TARS to be updated, simple stability seems to be enough reason to stick to A-10 1.1

Don't get excited, but I've been trying to find a price for the A10. I don't see it anywhere on the web-site, so do you know how much it is? You guys are getting me quite keen on having a look a DCS World, but it probably isn't worth it if the A10 is going to be out of my reach anyway.

DCS World is free to download. It also comes with a free Su-25t. It is the addons (A10C, Black Shark, P51D) that you have to pay for.

K.T, the references to A-10 1.1 and 1.1.1.1 are about the same product. That is the standalone version of the A-10.

DCS World is essentially the game engine which comes with a free aircraft, the SU-25. Additional modules can be purchased but are on the 1.2 version revision.

Currently there seems to be a number of issues relating to the 1.2 release, or actually more so the underlying multiplayer support on the World engine, along with TARS which allows us to use the radios in a more realistic sense through Teamspeak which is not yet supported with the 1.2 version.

So for now, I recommend getting A-10 1.1 here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=25&end_pos=135&lang=en
Licenses can be purchased here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=1322&scr=shop&lang=en

If you buy a license for a 1.2 module, it is also compatible with 1.1

If you are keen to have a run around with the SU-25 for free to see if you like it, get DCS World here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?ProductId=21&end_pos=137&scr=product&lang=en
