DCS World. A serious combat flight sim

FYI - DCS World 1.2.1 has been released.

Also looks like the P51 is out of beta.

Can't wait to get back into the game.

Not yet man. Waiting for my boet to dl it on uncapped. I've been reading good things though.

ED released a hotfix via the autoupdater that fixed performance issues which were caused by the new water shaders and effecs, so otherwise the game runs fine and I suggest you install it.

By the way guys is it possible to get a server running? I don't have the means to run a server nor do I really know how, but I know it involves serverman (which is compatible with DCS World).

I'm trying to fly every day after work from 8-11 so if anyone wants to hook up hit me with a PM. I have the DCS A10C module, but would be happy to fly with a P51.

Damn, well now I'm really behind - still on 1.1.1.1. Couple of us flying quite regularly though. As with everyone else, I look forward to flying with you in the (hopefully not too distant) future.

Hey Flanders and thanks for the reply. I have V1.1.1.1 loaded aswell as World 1.2.1 so atleast that's not an issue. Once you get World will we all branch onto that? I'm sure Kat06sa and Kaot both have World already.

Hey Dirk.

I'm afraid to say that you need to download V1.2.1 which can be downloaded here. I know it's another 5GB but it has an auto-updater which hash checks and repairs files as well as downloading any future updates so you don't have to re-download the entire new version of the game. And you'll be able to fly online.

V1.2.0 (your current version) is incredibly buggy and has bad performance issues, as well as crashing bugs.

If you unable to download V1.2.1 try reinstalling the game and updating gfx drivers etc and running the game as Administrator.

I'm sure once Kaot and Kat06sa are back we'll start getting some organization. In the meantime dude you can find me on the 104th or STP servers at night most of the time, though I think I might give it a break tomorrow since I just got off a 3 hour flight. My name on there is Vigilance 141 by the way.

So.....when does this happen regularly so I know when to act disappointed while I'm at work? :)

Do you guys always use TARS?

I must just apologise in advance for sometimes appearing to be really anti-social :) Between random work hours, home, wife, children etc its chaotic. Or I'm just slow. One of those.

Glad to have you on board with us bud. I think now that we have quite a few people we should start doing weekly flight nights. I'm up for Tuesdays & Thurdays 19:30 - 21:00, but someone needs to get in contact with Kaot, the maker of this whole thread so we can start getting some organization. Maybe you can Flanders if you have his Skype details? He was last online a few weeks back.

Otherwise anyone can feel free to host a server 7:30 onwards any night until we get set up, just be sure to post it in here and message everyone via Skype/SMS/forum post (be sure to share your contact details via PM or forum post). As long as everyone keeps tabs on this thread daily we should get some organization in. :D

Last but not least: Missions. Multiplayer missions more importantly. You can find and download multiple MP missions at the DCS site to host on your server. Alot of the missions found there are run on most online servers so feel free to use them, but at the moment I think we should just do a quick self made free flight, with some random targets for practice.

I'm game to play tomorrow 19:30 onwards, so please post in here if you available tomorrow and what time suits you most.

Syntax, I'm always on skype so you can reach me there pretty much any time. I did whatsapp you last night's details but not sure if you're on there that often?

ARM, ARM, ARRRRRM! Where have you been?! :) Mnr. Vlerkies and myself were wondering that just the other day whilst rolling in on a target! I made a thread on avcom too (which I will now need to update). We do normally always use TARS, yes.


Speaking of which, last night I went to the TARS site and I found that there is a new version compatible with DCS world 1.2.1 and the latest TS version as well. This means that our 1.1.1.1 days have finally come to an end and we will now officially be flying the latest version of world and TARS.

And I'll have to familiarize myself with TARS. I noticed on reddit last week that it had been released for World but I've never used it let alone use the radio besides contacting ATC. Sounds like some good training tomorrow night?

Absolutely! I'll hopefully be up and running by then. Crog has uncapped so he's doing the download - just not sure if it's all done yet. Then there's that tiresome business of getting my controls set up again. Is this a mission when upgrading from 1.1.1.1 or is it (by some miracle) a fairly straightforward procedure?
