DCS World. A serious combat flight sim

Just save your LUA file from the Controls menu 'Save Profile' to your desktop or anywhere else from V1.1.1.1 and then open the Controls menu in V1.2.1 and select load profile. Make sure to have a command in the joystick section selected when loading the .lua or else it overwrites your keyboard controls. Also you can just copy over your input folder from the directory in 'Saved Games' in my documents.

It's very easy to port your controls over even from FC2 since it's the same core game really.

Okay, that's cool. I know that vlerkies had a huge mission as well as KAOT but that may have had to do with going backwards (1.2.0 to 1.1.1.1)

My favourite game right now is the BMS F-16. A real "study" sim. Lots of reading needed just to start the thing. (it's also free;)) http://youtu.be/Y_uO8CBuwhE

Maybe we can all meet up and have a few dogfights sometime.

Hey! Another local BMS user. I've been a long-time Falcon player (first played in 2000) and over the past year have fiddled with the new BMS (apparently auto-scenery for trees etc coming in next version!) but my rig is getting a bit old to really fly campaign properly. Training missions only for me so far. When I'm not rushing towards deadlines we must try some online formation flying :)

I forgot to comment on this earlier:

So.....when does this happen regularly so I know when to act disappointed while I'm at work? :)

Says the guy who sits in his office at FL350! Pssh! The nerve I tell you. :p

:)

But I can't game at FL350.

And the DCS dudes said don't import your old controls because they changed some stuff in the newest patch. Or at least, they said do it if you want, but expect problems. Something like that.

I'm 'off' Friday and Saturday, but childminding comes first unless I want to bring down the wrath of the Wife :)

Sent request on skype.

I still don't have 1.2.1. Will hopefully collect tomorrow!

Evilsod also has couple guys winging it every now and again:

I'm still learning how to pilot this beast properly; getting the hang of CDU and EGI and still need to do some weapons training, but will try joining in for some MP action.

Flanders, I think we should ask Reno to maybe rename that forum topic to Flight sims or something?

Yes, generic is better methinks - especially seeing as how IL2:CoD is not exactly soaring above the clouds at this point.

Hey SE, I'm going to collect the download from my brother within the hour hopefully. Doesn't look like I'll be up and running in time for tonight though. Still need to install and set everything up again. i'll have a look if I'm done reasonably early but I'm sure you know how tricky control setup in this thing can be.

No problem bud. You can find me in one of the highly populated servers tonight if you get it running. Will probably jump off for some rounds of CS/Diablo or something but I'll be on most of the time.

And remember to just use your LUA file for controls. It keeps everything, even curve settings.

:D

That you are, sir! That you are!

I've installed world and 1.2.1 A10 module, updated and good to go. Didn't get round to my controls but I'll sort that out this evening. Keen to get a test flight in so will post here and see what's on the go.

I should be available from 2030 or so - I can already hear fate laughing at me of course, but anyway, thats the plan.

All installed and sorted, gents. Ready to go when you are.

Controller setup seemed to go off without a hitch. I copied my 'input' folder from my A10 1.1.1.1 (C:\users\saved games...) and pasted to new DCS folder in the same path. Did a quick circuit and it all seemed fine - *holds thumbs I don't jettison my canopy at angels 20 doing three hundred and plenty knots using some previously harmless keypress*

Updated TS client and TARS as well. See you on the ramp for mic check!

Sweet bro. I'll let you guys decide when to get together but I'll be available tonight 7:30 onwards. Will only be able to play for about an hour maybe since I never realised the games MP consumes so much bandwidth.

burp, De Vlerk still needs to download the new goodies, cye soon.

Hey Arm, howzit man

I've got DCS: A10 , and it's awesome. All the systems work perfectly, it was a bit bug-ridden but after some patches it was running smooth and well. :D I'd definately recommend it to any slightly serious simmers.
