Bought a screen from the pc zone birthday sale and there is a red dead pixel in the middle of the screen. Is tis covered by a warrantee?

Samsung? Should be covered. You will probably have to take it back within ±14 days of purchase.

I cant remember where i read this but i remember reading that in order for the warranty to be effective with dead pixels you have to have 5 or more, not 100% Sure about this though, just check with lg, you got nothing to lose

Wow i would be pissed if i buy a new monitor with a red pixel and they say, they can do nothing until there is 5.

I can understand further down the line but not new!!!!!!!

I had a 19" LG LCD straight out of the box with a dead pixel (red dot) slap bang in the centre of the screen.

I went to the LG website, called the customer support number, spoke to a chap by the name of Freeman. He advised me to return it to the place of purchase, and get the retailer to contact him personally.

Screen was swapped out there and then. Good luck!

I rate hold a funeral for it ... let it pass up to the computer heavens safely :p

Nice, my pixel is also in the centre of the screen.

Don't think they will take it back. Needs to be a few more depending on the make before they will fix.
If its got a dead pixel out of the box I'd get the seller to take it back...under duress if necessary.

Ok. Use to work in a PC store and this is how it goes: A class 1 LCD screen is not considered faulty if it has less than 7 dead pixels - yes 1-6 is not a fault.

This is ISO standards - not SABS. Should you purchase a class 2 this number doubles, and so on...

A retailer is not obliged to take back the screen. Some stores will do this at their own cost. So buyer beware.

Test them in store and if the sales guy does not allow this, then insist on a written guarantee signed by the store manager that you can return the monitor within 2-7 working days. Never allow a sales guy to sign as it will not hold up even in small claims court as they do not have the power to make such decisions - seen it happen in my retail days.
