Hi folks

We have been giving the dealership forum a bit of thought and your feedback – especially if you are a dealer – will be of value.

Do you think the dealers should post directly into the new forum or publish in a new Classifieds section where the posts are then pulled into the new forum? The advantage of using the Classifieds as the starting point is that all info will be available like image, price etc. Dealers will also have the advantage of getting exposure in both sections. Example: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=123314

Your feedback will be great.

If possible, a new Classifieds section (or subdivision of the current Classifieds for less clutter) where the posts are pulled into the new sub-forum.

Could you make it that the dealer's nick is pulled instead of the current system where yours is?

Perhaps tags can be enabled in the new sub-forum.

Thank you rpm. :)

I don't like the Classifieds section at all. It is like a completely different forum. If we want to be able to engage with the dealers then surely a forum sub-section is better?

Yeah, I'd also prefer a sub-forum. Especially as Henry says, if we want to be able to engage with them. Juts makes it more personl, therefore (hopefully) leading to a better interaction :D

AFAICS either way there will be a sub-forum.

Either just a sub-forum, or Classifieds and sub-forum in which I assume there will be interaction.

Just like it is now where Classifieds adverts are pulled and posted by rpm into the forum.

My concern can be summed up as
"Person"

Those in the know, will know - for the rest, trust me - long story.

Perhaps dealer reviews could circumvent that.

Perhaps dealers could provide ID/contact information to rpm.

Just a thought.

I agree with the sub-forum. Also agree that

I prefer placing it straight into the sub-forum ... its quicker and less hassle.

Definately. Dealers that want to deal on MyBB should be verified by MyBB, or at the very least have all their contact info which is just visible to RPM, but if there in case etc.

I like this idea, a dealers tread on my favourite forum! I also vote for the sub forum btw. Will we be able to see pics of the hardware in a sub forum?

The example looks great, I'd vote for using a system that implements that :)

But the ones that are posted by rpm cannot be commented on can they? Or has that changed?

Yeah sorry, thought they could be replied to.

See post above. ;)

Indeed :) That is what I want the Classifieds to be like in general but I was told that might add unwanted clutter to 'new posts' .

Though I don't belive the current off topic posts like "so i went to a prostitute' or 'things i have found up my nose' really deserve to be there either

They can be commented on in the actual classified section where the ad is which imo is preferable to having comments there and in the forum. At least this way the dealer knows where to look and it doesnt end up sullying the forum itself.

I don't see it as sullying. The classifieds for me, is too disconnected from the rest of the forum.

Makes searching easier as well.

And I don't think that doing it that way would add unnecessary or unwanted clutter.

Good! The classifieds and the forum should be removed from one another.
